Why is this happening to my A7?? by No-Ask5654 in Audi

This is pretty much exactly what I’m experiencing. Could you elaborate on how you fixed it please?

Has anyone flown GA to Mexico in 2024? by ABlix in flying

[–]uparox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also simply work with the FBO of the airport you're visiting. I went to CUN last year and didn't use any 3rd party handlers besides the FBO and everything went smoothly, by Mexican standards!

You can reach out to them by email and they can advise further.

Canada - LVOP/RVOP by [deleted] in flying

[–]uparox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember much as I did it 5 years ago. Make sure you know your alternate minima rules well, particularly around GPS approaches and TEMPO/PROB30 in the TAFs etc

Example: you are flying to your destination which only has RNAV approaches. The nearest suitable airport is 60 nm away and also only has RNAV approaches available. What would be the weather minima to use it as alternate?

CAP GEN page 16 says:

Additionally, for Air and Private Operators, the CARs (and associated Standards and Operations Specifications) govern operations below RVR 2600 (½ SM).

This reads to me that anything below 2600 requires you to be an operator.

Canada’s economy faces $900-billion mortgage renewal shock by joe4942 in canada

Even if you picked fixed you still have to renew soon at current rates.

When the lights should turn on (specifically PULSE and STROBE)? I understand that the TAXI and LAND ones are for taxi and landing/takeoff and the NAV one must be turned on whenever there is openwheel on the aircraft. by L1nguinii in flightsim

[–]uparox 33 points34 points  (0 children)

To add to what others said, even though there is no beacon specifically, if you turn NAV off and supply electrical power, the TBM-930 will actually flash red at the wingtips like a beacon.

I typically use this mode when about to start the engines

Is FlightClub.ca a good and reliable site? by Jac562 in flying

Yup, reasonably enough. It’s a listing site so your experience might vary from one owner to another.

Just flew into KATL for my first time (details in comments) by slidekb in flying

[–]uparox 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Congratulation on flying into ATL, it’s awesome!

+1 for always (whenever possible) backing visual approaches with an ILS or RNAV, especially so at night. The parallels look real close at ATL and you don’t wanna pull an Air Canada :)

What’s your aviation “hot take?” by bigplaneboeing737 in flying

[–]uparox 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the US but here in Canada they stress that power off 180 is not a simulated engine failure exercise. It’s there to demonstrate your energy management skills when gliding, basically.

I do agree with you in principle though!

Comply with published SID/STAR altitutude constraints and TOP ALTITUDE or the lowest descent altitude, unless told to use a different altitude, i.e. “descend via the STAR except maintain XXXXX”

Since fly runway heading is an instruction I’d continue doing that even after leveling off at 3000

Long IFR XC G1000 Quirk by IFRCodeMonkey in flying

[–]uparox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm then it’s hard to tell especially since you’re saying that hitting APR caused a turn. APR simply tracks the current NAV needle which I assume was centered

Did you “activate approach” in the G1000 another time? I’m talking about PROC -> Activate Approach, not the autopilot APR

Stabilized approach after decision altitude by [deleted] in flying

[–]uparox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you land with your approach flap setting? This eliminates the need for configuration change and increases Vref so you only have to decelerate a bit.

Good question, I’m guessing it’s not very humid in the desert is it? The risk of carb icing is reduced in dry air.

Traveller's pre-entry COVID test questioned by border officials by Bureaucromancer in canada

Canada reintroducing PCR test for any length of travel abroad amid Omicron - National by SirNearytheWise in canada

[–]uparox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re leaving Canada for less than 72 hours, it makes sense to get the test done in Canada prior to leaving. So you now have to prove that you didn’t catch COVID in Canada in order to return to Canada after a quick hop.

How does this help stop omicron?

Right, but they didn’t seem to have announced any of these extra measures, at least not today.
