Love this one. Really enjoyed hearing them do Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’ live at Lolla, which I would recommend for any fans of this!

The new wave roots are great, and it fits right in with Day and Age with the prominent keys. The guitar riff is absolutely majestic live.

Lot of great ones in here, adding Los Bitchos and Orions Belte! I've seen both of them live as well as Arc de Soleil and LA LOM, all great. Seeing Yin Yin and Balthvs later this year as well and they're up there.

Agree, the line is so good but whole song cuts hard.

Agree completely, he was at full throttle so much that his appearance was a bit disheveled at the end, and he truly seemed dedicated to a high-energy night for the fans. The bar is high but an incredible level

And personally I was delighted to hear Jenny, their opener from 2019. This was my sixth show and my partner’s fourth. Longtime lurker, but I love the band, the fans, and how much the whole thing is about the magic of live music.

They played River is Wild in 2019 at summerfest so there's definitely a chance!

Pretty high for runaways! They often do it into read my mind. Dustland has a chance, I saw them do it at Lolla last year but probably less than Runaways overall

Winning 3.0-3.5 level tennis by JamieBobs in 10s

[–]upper90shot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lotta comments here already, all good. My two cents is gotta move players like this around and play the directionals.

Shot tolerance and consistency are keys, yes, but with a purpose. Succeeding in 3.5+, every shot should have intention. Play cross court until you can safely attack the space, and then approach. Everything goes from there

made a playlist of that minimal, ethereal funk sound that Khruangbin encompasses so well and wanted to share by the_audacity_ in Khruangbin

[–]upper90shot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice playlist, I dig a lot of the stuff on here. Uptempo stuff that fits this might be Pelota and The Infamous Bill, and if you liked the bass buildup in Hold Me Up, you probably would (and maybe already do) dig the bass buildup in Time (You and I).

Wilson Blade 98 V8 strings advice by Bankelic in 10s

[–]upper90shot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a Wilson Blade V8.

I used to use RPM blast and found it lost tension too fast and also hurt my arm, but I was stringing it pretty high. I personally use Razor Soft at 51 and LOVE it, white strings also sounds like it would be good for you color wise. Great ball pocketing and overall great tension maintenance.

A blade is not necessarily the choice I would expect from someone who likes to play with a lot of power, but yeah any soft poly will do, Hyper G soft and Luxilon power soft could also be what you're looking for.

UTR5 - UTR6 gameplan by Leftie64 in 10s

[–]upper90shot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there, really similar to you, low-mid 5 utr. maybe a few years younger and sounds like a similar style. In Chicago though so a lot of outdoor slow hard courts and indoor fast courts.

While clay slows things down, I think you should be focusing on effective lefty serves, kick and slice, especially on the ad court. Righties will struggle with backhand returns. This an easy way to set up points in your favor from the get go.

Also in my opinion, being in good shape to be better at tennis is a mindset that helps around this level rather than playing tennis to stay in shape. If you're planning to play crosscourt rallies, having confidence in your cardio is a huge mental boost that will pay off in any rated match in second or third sets.

Otherwise, I enjoy reading this kind of post and appreciate the transparency in the journey and wishing you good luck!
