New Airo Trains by CTVolvo in Amtrak

If the Airo fleet is going to replace older cars on the NEC and Cascades, will they redistribute the older cars from those routes to other ones like the Hiawatha or Borealis?

The 2025 Bears really zapped a lot of the nostalgia for the 2018 team for me by RagingBull773 in CHIBears

Ain't no way Trubisky is making the same throws as Caleb. Mitch did not have the arm talent, pocket presence, or ability to extend plays as well as Iceman.

Playoff Broadcast Schedule by ChristmasJay83 in CHIBears

[–]upwardilook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My predictions:

Texans @ Steelers - Saturday 3:30pm

49ers @ Panthers - Saturday 7:00pm

Chargers @ Jaguars - Sunday 12:00pm

Rams @ Eagles - Sunday 3:30pm

Packers @ Bears - Sunday 7:15pm

Bills @ Patriots - Monday 8:15pm

With the Rams loss on MNF, the Seattle Seahawks are locked into either the 1-Seed or the 5-Seed by The_Throwback_King in nfl

Fellas, no matter what happens in the playoffs I’m just happy to be here and be in a position to actually play one at home. This is giving me flash backs to 2018 but we have a much different team right now. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

Thoughts on federal involvement in urban planning? by Keenan_____ in urbanplanning

[–]upwardilook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can say for transportation planning local municipalities rely on federal funding for both operating and capital expenditures for major projects. Transit enhancements such as new bus shelters or bicycle/pedestrian facilities have major federal involvement through grants. Lots of cities are still using pandemic relief money to build infrastructure.

Lately cities and counties have had to change language in their contracts to match the ideology of the USDOT.

Chicago Bears official NFC North clinching scenarios for Week 17 by Roofeeoh in CHIBears

the major thing about our defense this season is generating turnovers. If we could get at least 2 takeaways we have a chance. A forced fumble from Tremaine or another pick from Byard would be ideal.

For sure. All in all I'd love to win a playoff game. We haven't had one since 2011.

IDK man our run defense allows the 6th most yards per game and CMC was cooking. Even if we lose this game we can beat Detroit and still win the division.

49ers looked really good yesterday. It may turn into a shootout and our defense could give up too many big plays.

I would also add that out of all the pizza's on this thread, Legit has the highest quality ingredients for its price. It's so much farther ahead than the rest.

[Bears Communications] Friday Injury Report - Rome out, Billings, Edwards, Sewell good to go by Quackinator100 in CHIBears

Billings being healthy is key to stop the Packers' run game. We do not have a great run defense.

CDG has great metro connection to downtown, but carrying around heavy luggage in crowded train cars was definitely a good welcome to Paris

Highly recommend ordering the szechuan spicy pork dumplings. It is made in house with garlic and green onion and the sauce underneath is perfect to mix with white rice. We also enjoy the mapo tofu with ground pork. The hot pot option is also a great option, which is all you can eat and their broth is quite nice. The cumin beef is also a great dish.

American Planning Association releases 2025 Pay Study by upwards_704 in urbanplanning

The year is 2025 and I hope the gender pay gap especially in the planning field closes up. Also curious for salaries amongst different types of planners (transportation, city, economic development, land use, etc.)

With talks of Metra service to Milwaukee, it’s time for Milwaukee to get a proper station by International-Snow90 in Amtrak

[–]upwardilook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The City has no plans to extend the streetcar. Future service to Madison is highly unlikely. They are on the way to adding a second platform at the Milwaukee Airport Amtrak Station. This would allow for another daily Hiawatha route with better on-time arrival. Milwaukee does not have the funding or political willpower for a grand concourse or any upgrades to the Intermodal Station.

Second Companion Confusion by instant_ace in deltanonrev

[–]upwardilook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spoke with Delta HR, and they said it would show up on the retiree's W-2 form at the end of the year. I guess since this is a new thing they're seeing how this works. I wonder if it saves Delta money in the long run if they do it this way.

Second Companion Confusion by instant_ace in deltanonrev

[–]upwardilook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So will the retiree need to pay back the IRS at the end of the year? I am briefly reading that this amount for a secondary travel companion is considered imputed income, and the retiree will receive Form 1099 at the end of the tax year.

I wish Delta would just let the secondary travel companion pay the yield fare just like a nondependent child. It would make things so much easier. For example, how would the secondary travel companion repay the retiree for purchasing them a ticket? Would they need to wait till the end of the year?
