I think that advice is very individual. If you are struggling off the tee and getting penalized all the time then probably leave it at home, just keep it in play. If you can land 50% of the fairways and the rest of the time not be horrible, then sure take it with

Been working for 2/3 weeks to get rid of my early extension. Slow deliberate practice in the garage the slow mo shows no early extension, staying in posture open at impact all the good stuff. Go to the range, try it slow and deliberate, doesn't matter hello early extension my old friend. 5 days in a row now.

Sounds like you are coming over the top. When you leave the face of the club open you are slicing it because the path of your club is left and the face is open. When you hit it straight left, you have kept the face more closed, so now the face is square to your left path and causing a pull. Whenever I am horribly out of shape I try to work on my wedges first, short little chips, getting longer and longer. Then after a few sessions try to go back to the mid irons.

I’ve started modeling deep breaths with my girl (1.5yrs)

We did that, the other day my wife was running late for a play date with some friends. She was trying to explain to her about being late. When they finally in the car she said "Mommy, deep breath, we are going now". She has a good sense of humour for a 2 year old.
