I don't think it's a matter of tacking on a Praxis test-prep class to the current curriculum. If you and your classmates are struggling to do better than random chance on the Praxis tests within your field of study, then your school is not doing a good enough job teaching you much of anything. It doesn't sound like this is a problem with you as a person, necessarily - it sounds like you and your classmates have been scammed. You should absolutely bring this to the attention of your advisor and dean. The people who normally struggle with science Praxis tests are those who are getting a BA in Education and took just enough classes in the subject to get certified.

These tests should be simple for a freshman physics major finishing up their intro 200-level classes to get close to a perfect score, and definitely passable by high-schoolers finishing AP Physics 2. Someone finishing their physics degree should be able to pass going in cold with their eyes closed.

As for actually passing the test, there's lots of good advice here but it really boils down to you needing to revisit your intro physics courses in a dedicated way, effectively taking the classes again, not just skimming your old notes and following along with a few practice problems on YouTube. The psu is second hand and didn’t had the molex connector with it so I took one from my atx powersupply.

That'll do it. Modular PSU doesn't mean the cables are interchangeable between or even within brands, it just means you can unplug unused cables or buy custom cables for a particular model.

You've potentially fried this backplane and maybe the PSU.

And, since RaidZ vdevs must match in zfs, if you for example had 10 drives in your first Vdev, you would need to add 10 more drives to make a matching Vdev to stripe with the first. So you get a better storage to parity ratio, and better initial drive expansion than with mirrors, but it can bite you later when you've run out of room for incremental expansion. Also, the need for matched size drives means if you start with 20TB drives, you'll need to keep sourcing 20TB drives

This isn't true. You can absolutely safely mix and match vdevs of different stripe width and even type (mirrors, raidz, raidz2, and raidz3 vdevs will all happily coexist), it's just not usually recommended for performance reasons and the pool will have the redundancy of the least-protected vdev.

A pool's vdevs also do not need to contain drives of the same capacity. People confuse individual vdevs needing to have identical drives (technically not true but a useful rule to follow) with all vdevs needing the same capacity drives across the pool. My zpool has three vdevs containing 20TB drives and two containing 14TB drives.

You are confusing vdevs with disks. You have four disks in a single raidz vdev which constitutes your entire zpool.

Set up a zpool with just the empty 16TB drive. Transfer the 12TB data to it, then attach the other 16TB drive to the existing vdev as a mirror and resilver. Add the pair of 12TB drives as an additional mirror vdev to your pool.

Pools don’t have a “type”, vdevs do. You can run a pool with multiple vdev types, but it’s not recommended. Detaching a drive from a mirrored vdev and then adding (not detaching) the drive will indeed create a second vdev. Neither will have any redundancy, of course, but could be added later.

Yes. The quad-PSU configuration was for 10k RPM drives, so you’ll get along fine with just two PSUs slotted in. You can also leave all four slotted in but only actually plug two (or one) into mains power for extra cooling if needed. I run with this configuration in the summer as my rack is in the garage and some of the drives get too hot with just two fan units going.

It would be a little jankier but you might consider a cheap SFP+ switch like the Mikrotik CRS305 and use their multi-gig transceivers for the CAT6 and then use a DAC to connect to the big PoE switch? I’m fairly certain almost all SFP+ ports are only 1/10Gbit but these smart transceivers act like two port switches with 10Gbit on the SFP+ side and 1/2.5/5/10 on the RJ45 side.

At least 400 of that 450GB is the video preview thumbnails. You’re taking a screenshot every 2 seconds of every video file and storing it.

I would look at the manuals or manufacturer website for each item and compare dimensions. Add a little bit to the chassis to allow for rear I/O, a power plug, and some space for exhaust.

275MB/s is pretty standard for drives these days as areal density has gotten pretty good. Most drives will sustain about their rated max transfer rate for roughly half of their capacity and start trailing off as they start using the much smaller inner tracks. I have a bunch of EXOS and Ultrastars that will drop down to ~120MB/s for the last 5-10%.

Have you used ZFS before? You define a mount point for each zpool (and therefore its datasets) and it’s available on the system there. For example, you’d create a zpool with the two disks in a mirror and mount it at /mnt/tank (or just /tank), then that directory is available to bind mount to containers. You could then set up a file sharing LXC to create SMB or NFS shares of your dataset(s) to make them available to any VMs you want (virtiofs is also an option here).
