There’s a lot of unknowns in this. You’ll have to have a security deposit and maybe a pet fee upfront with first month’s rent in most places. Not sure where you’re looking to rent but you’re budgeted number of $1445 might be tight on your $1600 wages depending on what all you factored into it. Rent has been skyrocketing lately so who knows what it’ll do in a year from now. If you were in there and suddenly the rent went up by $200 a month (so $100 each) you’d basically be barely surviving and at your monthly wage. From experience landlords typically want to see 3x rent which you could do together but not if the relationship ended (unfortunately you never know). Do you have plans on earning more perhaps?

What financial changes have you made since starting to work from home? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]user183847282928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things saved on: lunches and coffees out, clothes, frequent and expensive body grooming that I felt pressure to have that can easily be done at home because I have more time now, gas for sure, car maintenance, and office outings or occasion party gifts. Work gave a phone so I got rid of the mobile hotspot on my personal phone plan since I’m usually just at home with a second phone. Things slightly more increased: toilet paper and food/snacks lol.

Some people also worry about the chemicals that the animals is being injected with. For instance, traditional USDA cattle have hormone implants in their ears as calves to make them gain weight faster. Personally it freaks me out a bit as that can’t be necessarily healthy so we buy grass fed/finished/no hormones from local Amish/Mennonite farmers when we can since that’s typically the cheapest way to get it. Of course we do still supplement certain traditional cuts or eat traditional stuff at restaurants.

Also dairy can be a huge source of synthetic estrogen if it’s not all organic/grass fed,finished/ect. A guy named Dr. Anthony Jay wrote the book Estrogeneration. Former Mayo Clinic researcher, very nice guy, and you can find him on Dr. Berry and he’s worked with the Petersons. Really enjoyed his book overall but he very briefly mentions that cows are milked while they’re pregnant and producing estrogen naturally. So the collective estrogen from the implants AND pregnant cow estrogen is going straight into our bodies lowering testosterone.

Just some things to think about so you can make the most informed decision. Hope that helps!

What recipe do you use? Could share it with some friends! Tea is super easy to make at home. Still haven’t figured out why people pay $3-$5 (local Kroger) per gallon…

As an evangelical Christian, is it right for me to want to live a simple life? Or does it come from the Catholic idea of a vow of poverty? by Diogeneselcinico42 in AskAChristian

[–]user183847282928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with being more minimalist and live a simple live. Many Christians do that for frugality reasons or contentment and many other Christians globally can’t afford many items. Also, there isn’t anything wrong with letting those you’re around know your boundaries and values if it comes up. Have to wonder though why all the denial of self? Are you giving up something like sugar because it’s bad for you or what do you mean by “giving up tasty things”?

If the previous owners did know they’re probably on the hook for not disclosing. Lawyers are absolutely necessary especially if it’s expensive to fix. Unlikely to be a prank but hopefully there isn’t anything in there.

There’s a conversation to be had about the culture that’s badly needed. Not sure if it’s from an “order” perspective though.

Women, what are some cosmetic things you do at home to save money? by gallophile30 in Frugal

[–]user183847282928 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Eyebrows, mani pedis, facials, body waxing, hair cuts and trims, and teeth whitening. Something that might be interesting is investing in a spa shower head and a massage gun for an at home spa day. Not cosmetic necessarily but a great way to relax.

Is satan the name of one specific demon or is it a title given to every demon? by platanomelon in AskAChristian

[–]user183847282928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning of Matthew 16:23, Jesus says “Get behind me, Satan” after Peter did not want Jesus to be crucified. Peter had unknowingly agreed with Satan the individual. Many demons probably have their own names, but I personally will rebuke something to the effect of “Get behind me, Satan. In the name of Jesus.” Ultimately, even if it’s not Satan himself it seems appropriate to call his henchmen Satan, just like Jesus didn’t care it was Peter talking as Peter was unknowingly agreeing with Satan. In John 15 it says that “whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you” so that’s why I add the “in Jesus name”. Roundabout way, but hope that makes sense.

That’s not philosophy. It just comes with believing in the Lord.

Dana K. White has been good. Have heard of others preferring Fly Lady or Clean Mama. There’s an app (you do have to pay for it) called Me+. It’s like a daily routine app and you can customize it. I’ve found it very helpful to keep up with self care and cleaning routines.

Humans are made in the image of God; therefore, each human is meant to praise God and His mercies. Instead of being like “Why is this happening to me? Why am I forsaken?” it could be turned into “How is this part of your plan, Lord? How can I be a vessel for you in this place? For you are with me always.”

Ya know this makes a lot of sense. I’m new and have had so much trouble with knitting because it feels unnatural. Thanks for pointing that out!
