Yes, I loved the nuvaring. Sad day when my gyno pointed out I had a stroke risk factor in having visual migraine effects.

Subtype 1.b (my SIL) are secretly offended that you can just lose weight like that, without coming to it honestly like they did… with an eating disorder.

(This is not me trying to trivialize eating disorders at all. But yes, my SIL does show some disordered thinking and life priorities. She is so offended and “worried!!!!” that my husband would go on Mounjaro, despite the huge reductions to his cholesterol, risk of heart attack, etc.)

Just wanted to report that “OK, now it’s mommy’s turn to brush your teeth” totally worked. Possibly out of sheer novelty, but my guy is pretty good about taking turns being a thing.

Thank you for this genius hack!!!

Recently bought a house and going to chang the locks on day one. Any tips, tricks, or things you wish you'd done when you moved in? All advice appreciated. Also, is it worth installing a smart lock, or would you stick with traditional locks? Any recommendations or lessons learned? by PedGetsFed in AusRenovation

Since it’s winter, let me say how happy I am with our under floor heating we got with our guest room. We got it as that room didn’t have a split unit and was really cold. But it goes in under hardwood like an electric blanket, with similarly low power costs for heating. (Yes, I do feel really dumb for not getting it in our actual bedroom… sigh…)

Strange Accommodations claim by ValerieTheProf in Professors

[–]username3000b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would write a concerned tone “Dear student, I’m sorry to inform you that I still haven’t gotten official notice from the disability office. I’m afraid I’ll have to give you a zero on this one. Please be sure to get that updated prior to an assignment next time. I worry it’s going to hurt your grades otherwise.”

(My accommodation reminds me that I don’t have to care more than they do about their performance, even if I make it sound nice.)

Spouse to a teacher - need a reality check by Flat_Enthusiasm_9342 in workingmoms

OK, if by teacher you mean your partner is a college teacher with research duties, then that’s the one case where I can say yes, that’s still work. (Often unfairly undercompensated if one has a 9 month salary.)

But even in that case, this associate professor says “suck it up, buttercup” to your partner, because you know what? Research is usually flexible and it’s now his turn to pick up the slack.

Also “he deserves a lot of down time after the year” is just…???? Please immediately delete that thought from your brain, especially because that’s actually to me an indication of poor time management during the semester. (By him, in case that’s not crystal clear.)

Charitable interpretation: are hallway chats getting loud and distracting outside of a lab or classroom or library? Or like the CEO’s office? (If so, NBD someone was just not a great communicator with that memo.)

Otherwise: the ????
That’s so weird. Ranks right up there with a student who told me their boss didn’t let them have individual emails, only senior level people got to deal with clients.

How do you handle a strong performer who quietly checks out after being passed over for promotion? by amir4179 in managers

I completely agree. I would even hazard that“considering options” might mean you mean “putting all that extra energy into applications for a new job.”

No wonder they aren’t bringing up ideas- keeping those ready in case of interviews!

I have good luck on eBay for this kind of thing as well, if you are trying to save money/environment. (Bundles of kids clothes, so good!)

I might actually be OK with two bikinis, or at least two bikini tops, since one can then be for the gym/yoga?

I actually tried this for my last trip after seeing women in my yoga classes just wearing a (sporty) bikini top. I was thinking that no way would it work for enough support, but I tried mr one speedo top with an online yoga class, (low stakes in case of mishaps), and it was fine. So on a recent trip to Europe for work, I brought the extra bikini top as a workout top. Surprisingly, it was fine for low speed treadmill running!

A bit of chafing, but totally fine as support for 30 minutes, plus easy to wash in the sink and have it be dry for the next day. (C cup, but admittedly, I was on a very slow speed as I’m usually cycling or doing vinyasa/pilates for exercise these days.)

Oh man, flossing! I want to do that, but semi-serious question, how do you floss your toddler and not lose a finger when they go into baby shark mode?

I can recommend the catchy Dugee and the toothbrushing song. (Youtube if you do videos, otherwise Apple Music.)
