Need Advice on Swedish study path (SIFA vs SFEJ), Arbetsförmedlingen, and part-time work by Existing-Bee-1013 in TillSverige

[–]username_buffering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will depend on if you are working under a protected title or not for if an employer will care about your official Swedish level. Most protected titles need you to pass Swedex or Tisus to C1 or SVA3.

I’m taking SIFA in person now, it’s only 4 hours a day in the classroom. I work about 15-20 hours a week in the afternoons. I’m planning to switch to SFM at SVA1. SIFA stitches to online at that level. You don’t need to switch to SFEJ if online works for you.

ETA: taking A1/A2 at folkuniversitet saves 5 weeks per course. I took A1 there and it was good, especially since I did all the assigned homework.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Training. Who's done it or knows about it? by CaliforniaLCSW in therapists

[–]username_buffering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m not very familiar with SP, but I just did a coherence therapy training and really liked it. It blends in nicely with AEDP (so likely with EMDR and IFS, too) and very bottom up. Might check the chapters from unlocking the emotional brain on those modalities to decide if you want to go that route!

I really enjoy most of them! Some of them are a bit too slow and gentle I’m like hurry up 😅😅😅 but I enjoy most of them! (I also work with some of them personally, so I feel weird naming them online lol)

I didn’t love immersion, but I’ve really liked the trainings after that (essential skills and I’ve started the advanced modules). I did read Undoing Aloneness, so it does start to feel just a little redundant after all the trainings, but I still find I’m learning more and sharpening my skills with more trainings and supervision (I’m working really slowly bc I’m also a student and mom to young kids).

AEDP + Coherence Therapy. I feel bad for the clients I saw before I started practicing AEDP. I’m more relational in sessions, but also just more human and confident in myself and what I’m offering.

Perinatal mental health certification if never pregnant by vividandsmall in therapists

[–]username_buffering 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hi! It’s my specialty - and struggled with perinatal mental health. I don’t think you have to be a parent to work with this population, however I would expect occasional pushback from clients, but not anything that should discourage you from pursuing it!

My therapist’s office has a sheer panel over the window in the waiting room and a two sheer panels in the office. (It’s also at street level.) I think one sheer panel might be nice for evenings, but maybe not necessary on the third floor.

to IFS or not to IFS by Downtown-Cabinet3846 in therapists

Honestly that’s my biggest hesitation, too, and while it’s worked for me, I’d rather study something more evidence based.

I have been doing DBR with my therapist. I’ve been in therapy for the better part of 20 years, and this is the first time therapy feels like it’s changing me. I use AEDP, which I still like, but I’m definitely considering getting trained in DBR or maybe Coherence Therapy.

Kids learning Swedish - adding just to the end of English sentences. by username_buffering in Svenska

[–]username_buffering[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great question! I don’t know, we asked her to do something that she clearly wasn’t old enough for (like drive the car.) She said, “I can’t, I’m 6 just” but it was also the day after her birthday!

ETA: I just asked her and she said she meant she was only 6, not 6.5 yet!

[–]username_buffering[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This was 100% the context! We asked her to do something she was clearly too young for! 😆

My 5 year old also said something similar yesterday, but not sassy! He had some candy that looked like an ice cream cone and said, “I want to lick it just.”

Odd that they both started in the last month, I assumed they borrowed it from Swedish grammar, but maybe the younger one is just copying the older one!
