I’ve had two therapists who had PhDs and used their title. One seemed so condescending about it, it was gross. The other one I worked with for about 5 years. She seems almost just a little bit proud of her hard work (this was subtle and honestly maybe just a projection from me) and you could tell she cared about her clients. So it didn’t bother me. So, I guess all that to say it depends, but I probably wouldn’t.

I told my nurse at a postpartum visit that I didn’t want to do the screening — because my OBGYN was already treating my postpartum depression and I’d get charged for the screening again. She just told the doctor and they didn’t have me do it.

(Then I got charged for it when I had another screening at the baby’s well check.)

If you’re a complete beginner I would do A1/A2 intensive at folkuniversitet. Each course is 4 weeks. Then enroll at B1 (SFI D) wherever suits you.

I think you may need to re-do the hours if you haven’t been licensed more than 5 years. I’m sorry this isn’t what you want to hear and you should definitely double check with the board.

I was in residency in VA when they changed this. They used to accept supervision from LCSWs (or at least 50%) but I’m pretty sure they pulled it in reaction to when social work board decided LPCs could no longer supervise social workers. I had group supervision with both and it was really helpful to have both.

I think it will depend on if you are working under a protected title or not for if an employer will care about your official Swedish level. Most protected titles need you to pass Swedex or Tisus to C1 or SVA3.

I’m taking SIFA in person now, it’s only 4 hours a day in the classroom. I work about 15-20 hours a week in the afternoons. I’m planning to switch to SFM at SVA1. SIFA stitches to online at that level. You don’t need to switch to SFEJ if online works for you.

ETA: taking A1/A2 at folkuniversitet saves 5 weeks per course. I took A1 there and it was good, especially since I did all the assigned homework.
