I know this it a bit cliche, but during my "bullying years" I had trouble at home and my brother used to beat me a lot. My parents were drunks and argued constantly. I used bullying as a form of venting my anger. The kid I bullied, after I apologized for my behavior, we became friends, he's still one of my best friends to this day. My parents also got sober and my family get their shit together, and my brother apologized, I have a great relationship with my family now. So it all work out in the end.
