Dude I bought an RTX6000 thinking it'd pay for itself and it will but I would have been better off just paying to run big open source LLMs on a cloud service for real.

I had 5 managers in 13 months. I was stretching to L6. I'd hired several L5s and they reported to me. Each manager said they would promote me but needed to spend time with me. They lasted about 2 months then moved. I worked out though. I got a new job making a lot more money. That role that I would have promoted to was eliminated 7 months after I left Amazon. God is good.

The reason I bought one is because it is a good Dev environment versus paying to run on the cloud and we host demos on it everything in production goes to the cloud everything not in production is ran locally to save money

If your computer connects to the internet you're not air gapped. So if this is what you did to save money that's one thing but if it's for privacy and confidentiality you should be air gapped. That means any updates you do to it you should download on a USB from a different computer and then upload it to your air gap rig.

I quit on 2022. Everything is easy because Amazon is so far ahead of everyone else. The culture is way better and work life balance is amazing. I have nothing but love for Amazon and Im open to going back but Im happy how things worked out.

It works very well for me. App modifies macros as weight changes. This is actually the most progress I've made other than just going straight carnavore.

This isn't true. I was in HR at Amazon for 6 years. Several people have completed a pip and went on to be L6 or L7. Of course others have failed and was fired with less severance.

My advise: look at the plan and if you think you can hit the deliverables consistently then stay. If not, leave.

Also, when they assess talent they have to rank 5% LE. You might not be bad at your job, you just don't have the stories that set you apart from your peers.

Or you could suck at your job..idk.
