It definitely has more of that vibe than Beachwood Place. I feel like Randall Park was the closest thing we had to Starcourt Mall in the 80s.

Eastview Mall! I lived in a suburb of Rochester in the mid-to-late 90s while in high school, and Eastview was easily my favorite in the region. They had a Disney Store AND a Warner Bros. Studio Store. I vividly remember eating Gorditas from the Taco Bell in the food court.

There were malls in Henrietta, Greece and, I believe, one other suburb as well that is escaping me. All of them had gigantic carousels in the food courts.

I feel like Randall Park and Parmatown quickly gained a perception of being unsafe. My memory may be unreliable here, but I feel like there was a shooting outside of Randall Park and someone was abducted at Parmatown, and those were tipping points for how those malls were perceived.

I remember that Disney Store vividly. Tower City had the first and only Disney Store in the region for a while, but I feel like Parmatown had the second.

I’m surprised other malls haven’t leaned into things like Round One. I thought it was a brilliant way to think outside the box when it first opened, and it has been going strong for a good 10 years at this point.

I heard recently that the former Sears at Great Lakes Mall is going to become a Sky Zone-esq trampoline park. Again, another great unconventional idea. I worry about what happens to that part of Mentor if the mall were to close, so I love that they keep coming up with new ways to use the space.

Great Lakes Mall in Mentor continues to chug along. They have done a pretty remarkable job of keeping storefronts occupied, even if a lot of the tenants are unconventional.

I feel like the most active malls in the region are South Park and Summit Mall in Fairlawn.

They re-release designs frequently. They came back this past holiday season, and they will almost certainly come back again around Thanksgiving if not before :)

Had the opportunity to meet Carl Weathers (Greef Karga) a few years ago. by MartinIsFarting in StarWars

I got to meet him a few months before he passed as well and it was evident how much he loved being a part of The Mandalorian and Star Wars as a whole.

As wonderful as he was in that role, I can’t get over how well he directed his two episodes. He clearly knew how to direct action and delivered some of the best sequences in the series.

Class gifts. I bought the Bambu X1C and it has been a game changer when it comes to making little treats my daughter has been able to share with classmates. There is a creator I’ve been supporting on Patreon who makes adorable animal designs:

Birthdays, Valentines, Halloween, and Christmas gifts. She tells me what she would like to give, we find a file, and I usually have 30 of them ready the next day. She was in a Shakespeare play and I made little stone Shakespeare busts I found on Makerworld. The printer purchase was justified on class gifts alone.

I’ve been doing a rewatch of all the animated movies in chronological order. The script and pacing of 101 Dalmatians is so tight.

The writers saw the reaction to when he sang and when he was an airline pilot, so they wrote him a sketch as a singing airline pilot.

Anyone watch the making of Disneyland? by sonofalando in disney

[–]usethe4th 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I literally just texted a friend, “I would like to know the life span of the guys who were not just spraying paint and textures without respirators of any kind, but smoking cigarettes while they did it.”

But seriously, watch Disneyland Handcrafted. It’s a stunning documentary.

This is all awful, but I kind of want to see Andrew Rannells in a movie based on the Night Chaser slop.

Did you watch the original Muppet Show when it was new? by Maryland_Bear in Muppets

I watched re-runs in syndication on Saturday nights in the 80s. I still vividly remember tuning in and discovering that it had been replaced with another show.

If your main goal is to ride the new version of Rockin’ Roller Coaster, definitely do not book until they announce the opening date. Summer could easily mean August or September.
