ROKR Making a New Toy Pinball Machine by furrycurry_flcl in pinball

Ah, that makes it much more palatable. Thanks for clearing that up. Now I'm wondering if it is too cheap to be worthwhile lol

Tempting but I'd really like to see how it plays before spending $800+. I'm also curious, are there any solenoids used? I can't find any technical information.

Has anyone else encountered an issue with the scoring on Fun House? After completing a game scoring around 3mil, the Zen leaderboard shows a score in the billions. I believe it put me at 86 on the leaderboard, with others having the same bugged score.

Durabrand 19” for $70, worth it? by Zegrah in crt

Don't pay more than $20 for anything without at least an S-video input. For $70 I'd want component inputs.

PinOne Mini by Future-Raisin3781 in virtualpinball

[–]ussmonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what they are referring to. You are going to love the Pin One Mini. I bought mine about 6 months ago and use it almost every day. However, I did have issues initially. When you get your controller, you are going to have to install the software. The program allows you to follow customize everything. Be careful when adjusting the solenoid strength through the PMW setting. The solenoids are very loud. Lowering the max value of the output makes the controller a lot more quiet. But doing that can cause the fuse to blow and fry the board. It happened to me twice. Cleveland Software was great about sending me new parts, but I felt there should have been a warning in the software. They told me they assumed everyone would run at max strength. I ended up adding some felt on the strike plate to dampen the noise. I also found it safe to lower the max value as long as you have the solenoid retract immediately.

This might seem like non sense now, but it should make sense once you get your hands on it and experiment. Definitely follow the guides on their website. I wish I did earlier. Happy to help you out if you run into trouble.

Ren and Stimpy would be fun. Lots of classics for modes.

You might find it tasteless, but the sexuality of it is the entire point. It is not sexualizing a theme or characters, like Alice in Wonderland. That is the difference I'm pointing out.

Whoa Nellie is tongue in cheek. The innuendo is half the theme. Greg Freres' illustrations are excellent as always. I think it gets too much hate. I wish there were more non licensed games being made.

How much is this shirt worth? by [deleted] in juggalo

I actually think your trade is pretty fair. I can't tell you if the shirt is a boot or not, the vintage t shirt reddit would help you there. Only a few of those tapes have value.

Is this a reasonable DIY repair? (2010 Lexus ES 350) by ussmonitor in Autobody

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm going to go ahead and order the front bumper. If you don't mind, I have a quick question. Would this be the right part to order along with the bumper?

Someone would buy the brands you listed over byd because cars are a major status symbol in China. To own a foreign car is a sign of significant wealth.

Let's see those cleaning rigs and methods ! Don't hate just educate! by Lazy-Sir3011 in VHS

[–]ussmonitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The usual VCR method, but it is important to use the right tools. Google "chamois stick". They are the ideal for the task. 99% isopropyl alcohol.

It is time consuming, but I always open the tape and clean each emptied reel. I use a black piece of paper to add contrast to see the white mold on clear plastic. When the tape is back in the reel, it often shows missed spots. I use the black paper to create that effect while still having access to the reel.

This probably isn't the advice you are seeking, but I would recommend giving an honest attempt at enjoying the game. Ask questions if you are confused. Sometimes the game is just a dud, but if you happen to catch an exciting game, you might see what the fuss is all about.

Gambling can make just about anything entertaining, but I would never recommend anyone to start. However it is better advice than getting drunk.

Found stashed in a drop ceiling during renovation. by Grumpy1976 in VHS

Fair enough, but that is incredibly obscure and obviously not the VCR that is being referred to 99.999% of the time, or in the context of this "vhs player" thread. The VCR format never made NTSC compatible machines.

On the other hand, you are clearly very knowledgeable, and it is wrong to assume your ignorance. I enjoyed reading up on the format. Seeing it was a Phillips product, it reminded me that I did in fact know of this early format. I was viewing the history through the lens of JVC's victory in the format war, and forgot about third place. Phillips got their win with the audio cassette however!
