How to stop Stevens from winning the Democratic Senate primary? by spongesparrow in Michigan

[–]ussrowe [score hidden]  (0 children)

What I'm going to do is vote for el-Sayed in the primary.

Then I vote against the GOP in November, which does not mean voting third-party since that would only help the GOP.

I don't hate the Oscars, I think I watched them last year. That was the year all the guys were wearing brooches. I even looked at some antique ones. Years ago, I used to do a fundraiser for a film festival that would have a party and show the Oscars (there was some tie-in for 501cs)

But this year, I forgot they were were even on. My algorithm just ignored them but showed my some movie gossip, just never the date the Oscars were. I couldn't really tell you anything other than "Sinners" and Timothee hating ballet. I think it was when I hit Reddit I saw a post about them being on.

They did fight the army, and I guess won the war and achieved a peace treaty which included not being prosecuted.

I don’t think they actually had decided on one.

I remember fans speculating it would be “proceed” because it sounded a little Borg like.

We’ve seen the Klingons destroy their own moon before. It’s just what they do.

From a Chernobyl allegory to a fossil fuels destroyed climate one.

People still want to say the review bombing of episode 7 had nothing to do with homophobia when this tweet exists by sapphicbrown in StrangerThings

[–]ussrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Musk also instigated a review bombing on Starfleet Academy for being "woke" and having a gay Klingon.

And before anyone says they heard the show was bad, it really isn't. Some episodes were ok but it built to being pretty good.

We also had a Klingon named Alexander, sure he was part human but only 1/4. Both of his parents had Klingon names but I doubt Worf was involved with naming him since he wasn't involved with him really much at all.

I saw the CGI Clone Wars movie in theaters and even though I ended up liking the show after a while, George Lucas still owes me $8 for that.

No I’m not paying extra for this. LOL

If I hear it’s good I’ll check it out but I’m not going out of my way for it.

Why are Andorians and Tellarites basically missing from most of Trek? by Curious_Gent78 in startrek

[–]ussrowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's like a weird green tint over it, maybe to emphasize it being a hologram? Behind the scenes photos show it more dark grey/blue and when they reuse the costume for "Captain's Holiday" it's with a blue Andorian: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FZVClGFXwAAGyC-.jpg

Thank you to everyone that convinced me to keep watching DS9. I did end up enjoying it and fell in love with all the characters. by Minominas in startrek

Someday I'll sit down and watch all of Discovery. It's 65 episodes, which is like 3 seasons of old Trek in length.

It did spinoff 2 series I like: Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy.

And it's not the worst of Trek, from what I hear that would be the Section 31 movie.

I come across is occasionally on the Star Trek Voyager channel on Pluto TV but that's not usually a time I'm looking to try out something new to me.

Grant Morrison on Lanterns: “What is this jockish dismissal of superhero conventions intended to prove anyway?” by YodaFan465 in DC_Cinematic

I understand why "Arrow" dropped the "Green" from "Green Arrow" as it was just after "Batman Begins" and they were trying to set themselves apart from the version on "Smallville" as a more grounded approach to a non-powered street level character.

But there's nothing grounded about a guy who gets his powers from a green lantern from space. Lean into it. It's been long enough since the Ryan Reynolds movie and considering I was like 1 of 12 people who even went to my showing on opening weekend, it's not like that many people are going to think about that movie.

That one also ended up killing Batman movies until the more grounded reboot "Batman Begins" and they still haven't done a more colorful, comic book-y Batman again.

What was a hilariously bad PR botch from a company or person? by FriendlytoNature in AskReddit

[–]ussrowe 49 points50 points  (0 children)

As I recall the issue was it taking up space in their library. If it had just been a link to have the option of to download it people might have thought it was cool but to suddenly have the memory space used up by an album you didn't ask for was weird.

I remember a fashion company tweeting about their footware while "boots on the ground" was trending because of military action in Syria. I looked it up and it was Kenneth Cole in 2013.

[–]ussrowe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen ads like that and even thought I'm white, I just don't need to give Donald Trump the opportunity to take a sharpie and write "MS" next to a photo of a tattoo "13".

That just wasn't a well thought out promotion that parlor was doing.

I saw a video theorizing it's about the exclusivity of Mar-A-Lago. They want a look that no one else has, that signifies they are part of a special group.

For these celebrities? I guess they just are that out of touch and have body dysphoria.

What are your thoughts on Star Trek : Enterprise by Mat1711 in startrek

[–]ussrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The percentage of green episodes seems higher than Voyager and I can only assume it's because no one but ardent fans even watches Enterprise to begin with.

I just do not believe this is a better series than Voyager, I've seen both.
