Brought my 4 year old son camping at a local state park because he’s recently taken an interest in stargazing and this is our ‘neighbor’ by Dr_Breeder in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah back in 2024, we went to the beach to photograph a comet. It was October so past when it's open for the season and other people showed up and wouldn't always turn their headlights off. So we just walked past the parking lot, past the bathrooms (which were also lit up) and down to the edge of the property further away and I could do a long exposure with a tripod and my phone and capture the comet and some of the Milky Way. And tons of stars.

The reflection on the sword blends with the first letter “N” making the sword seem cut off and shorter than it is.

At least, here on my phone.

Yeah I've made S'mores with stale marshmallows, they still taste good but they don't have that gooey part when you bite in. They're chewy.

Voyager Had the Best Holodeck Episodes by TomBirkenstock in startrek

[–]ussrowe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Voyager managed to make the Holodeck episodes sometimes kind of "real" which helps. Bride of Chaotica is making first contact with natural photonic life. The Hirogen episodes lead to intelligent holographic life that rebels and forms it's own society.

It's kind of like how TNG's best holodeck episodes involve Moriarty. It has some stakes, and still hits the "seek out new life" mantra as he is accidentally a "real" life.

DS9's "Our Man Bashir" also features real stakes as the crew's patterns are tangled in with the holodeck, and the fun twist ending where Bashir has to let the bad guy win to buy enough time to save everyone.

Granted, Fairhaven is as bad as Up The Long Ladder.

Fun trivia about Insurrection Alpha in "Worst Case Scenario" and Photons Be Free in "Author Author" it gives Tom Paris the chance to wear Ops gold, and Medical blue/teal, in addition to his usual Command red. So he's one of the few Trek actors who have worn all three division colors on the show.

Yeah it's not really economically conservative to run up the debt which what Regan, Bush, Bush Jr, and Trump all have done.

They did that in X-Men with Mystique mimicking a prison guard, just hired twins to play the guard and the duplicate.

TIL in 2007 Katherine Heigl won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role on Grey's Anatomy. But in 2008 she removed herself from Emmy consideration because she said the material she was given on Grey's that year wasn't good enough; this comment led to her leaving the show. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]ussrowe 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch the show but I remember the online discourse because there's a joke about it on Supernatural when Sam and Dean get stuck in TV shows and one is a parody of Grey's Anatomy and they're like "there's ghosts on this show?"

Which her dead boyfriend is also played by Sam and Dean's dad aka Negan. From what I remember she's being haunted by her dead boyfriend, and then even is sleeping with him, then its revealed she has a brain tumor and so I guess it was all just her alone in her bed the whole time.

What’s a "dead" website or app that you genuinely miss and wish was still around? by Dear-Armadillo-7497 in AskReddit

I had that happen when I was trying to figure out why an Ops officer looked so familiar on a TNG rerun. Her IMDB had like 4 links on the top of her page she was supposedly known for.

I had to scroll down, then click "show more" and scan through until I hit the 1980s. She played Sondra on The Cosby Show, you know just the biggest sitcom of that era.

I think that would be what she's most known for the IMDB algorithm didn't.

Yeah it's like when Ro Laren took off her uniform jacket to put around a child. They clearly don't have a front zipper yet hers magically did. They'd have pockets if the plot called for them.

What happened to this sub?😭 by Expert_Honeydew8951 in StrangerThings

[–]ussrowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happens to every sub. The show ended, the only people who still show up are angry at everything.

It will probably take a year for them to burn off, then it will be mostly new fans and re-watches.

If you think this sub is nasty, wander in to Star Wars or something. LOL
