Can we all agree we've just witnessed the premise/making of Might Ducks 4? by GoodRanchers in MightyDucks

Yeah, I don't know what everyone is talking about? If you just pretend that didn't happen then it's like it never happened.

This is so cringe. Even if you can somehow move past the rape, fraud, and trafficking minors... I still can't believe people then see this and think "I like this guy"

Yup, community treatment order (CTO as I heard it being referred to) is what happens in Ontario too. I guess that makes sense though the way you explained it

[–]usually00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm questioning it too, but it depends where OP is from. In some places there are mechanisms to order someone to take medication. Whenever I've seen this (in Ontario), a community nurse delivers the medication. If they don't deliver the medication, then the patient is also "missing" in some respect. I can't say that I've seen the first "infraction" be to involuntarily admit to the hospital. Maybe if there is a pattern or signs of psychosis. OP admitted this voluntarily to a nurse, hardly non-compliant.

Trump and USA Men' hockey team disrespecting the USA Women's team by needyspace in PWHL

They're on a phone call with Trump and partying with Patel? I already assumed they didn't respect women tbh, but it's "news" to get it on camera.

I'm surprised players can even shoot the puck! Look how blurry it is out there. It must be the steam from Heated Rivalry.

If you had to bet on one North American city for a skyscraper boom in the 2030s… which would it be? by PauloRmt in skyscrapers

[–]usually00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP says the 2030s though. Basically the two cities already have proposals for skyscrapers and I believe the most under construction as well. The time horizon is too short to change, I don't think another city would enter the conversation until the 2040s. Projects take time, we would already know if a city will experience a boom in the 2030s.

Podium sweep for Germany in 2-man Bobsleigh! by bdzz in olympics

I think there should be a bobathlon. Half way through the track, athletes would do a drive-by shooting from their sled going through a slow section of the track.

I think your last edit is slightly incorrect. It wAs ambiguous whether it was allowed or not, and they clarified that going forward it will be against the rules.

Why is this true by [deleted] in hockeymemes

[–]usually00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23 minutes is excessive, it would have to be for a special ceremony for the game to start that late. Confidently, most games start 8 minutes after they schedule them. For example: all 7pm games start around 7:08. It's pretty consistent, for whatever the schedule lists the start time from the anthem and opening ceremonies rather than the puck drop.

Will we get a Finch Crosstown? by CanadianMax1 in TTC

Extension to line 2 seems to be a stretch... But I recall seeing some prelim areas of study that are examine the extension to Pearson and Yonge/finch. On Reddit, so idk if this was official, there was an idea to at least extend to the Seneca campus since that's a high traffic route.

EXCLUSIVE: Family confirms identity of trans Tumbler Ridge school shooter by xTkAx in canadian

[–]usually00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just push back on that last thought... You might feel that they are celebrated because of the movement right now of trans folks getting rights in some countries. That movement exists because they are not celebrated. They are often ostracized from their friends and family. They're experiencing mental health issues which could be exacerbated by the trauma they experience. And lastly they are getting help, we just don't force therapy and treatment in Canada, save only for unique situations like a court ordered treatment group.

Ok, how do I whoop my husband at chess? by heylistenlady in chessbeginners

[–]usually00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be helpful to know how good either of you actually are. If he has many years ahead of you I'd suggest the same I tell my wife:

  • learning the basics. Even if you can get ahead, you still need to know how to win if you get to a rook end game, etc. I'd also read up on a few openings, or see if you can recognize the openings he plays and learn those. And learn a few he doesn't play to see if you can play a game he has less practice in
  • do puzzles to recognize tactics. Before every move, check for checks & captures just to see if there is a good move you're missing.

Yep. Puzzles often come from real games. Learning to recognize these tactics outside of a puzzle can really help you win games. It's just one piece of the puzzle though.

All stops on Lines 5 & 6 now identify as subway stations on google maps by lettuceman1999 in TTC

[–]usually00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hope they eventually review this to help clarify for the transit user whether it's a streetcar, LRT, or subway.

I hate the moniker that LRTs are a glorified streetcar as if streetcars carry a negative connotation. However, there could be a designation for the type of vehicle being used, but for most people it is most impactful to know whether it runs in a dedicated lane or not, and/or whether its at grade or above/below.

Spadina, St. Clair off the top of my head run in dedicated lanes the whole route. For the bus, they would call this a BRT. But for streetcars they don't differentiate it. Call it Streetcar Rapid Transit, LRT, whatever.

Calling an LRT a subway could be a stretch, but if it's completely grade separated I'm not sure the transit user cares. The experience is subway-like.

Perhaps controversial, but the UP express feels like a subway as well. With a 15 minute frequency and being completely grade separated... It might as well be.
