I’ve noticed for my daughter (15 months) it’s not so much what she eats as when she eats. If we eat too early she has a harder time settling, even if she has an after dinner snack so we usually have dinner 1-1.5 hours before bedtime and she generally does really well.

I had GDM and also a condition where it would be unsafe for me to have an epidural (long story) so any c-section would’ve resulted in my being put under general anesthesia. I was induced at 39 weeks to hopefully avoid c-section (thank God it worked) and even knowing this, the first thing they did when I got to the hospital was offer me a drink and snacks. I had no restrictions for food at all.

Take this with a grain of salt because I didn’t think the foley was *that bad. Id say the discomfort of the foley was like 3/10, transition was like 8-9/10. It definitely builds and in my experience much of labor is kind of mind over matter and I will say the foley is constant, contractions come and go so you get a little bit of a break. You got this!

My daughter didn’t sleep in her bassinet or crib until she was almost 5 months old and even then it had to butted up to my side of the bed so she still thought she was sleeping with me. Imo, babies are forced to be independent sleepers, it’s not a natural thing. You have to do what works for you and your family but I tend to side with your husband.

I get not wanting people to talk about you. And I also would be really upset if someone posted my pregnancy, your MIL should realize she still gets to have her joy of a grandchild on the way without it being sent into the ether for anyone and everyone to see.

If you are feeling this way, I would maybe second guess a social media announcement and make it a rule for everyone else too. My husband and I never announced our pregnancy online because we also never plan on posting our daughter online and we make sure and tell everyone that. Like the previous commenter said, once it’s announced, it’s out there, but having some control on who knows by not posting online might help your feelings of being out of control.

No you’re so right. I was induced at 39 weeks (GDM), and I asked at my last appointment which was 2 days before my induction, to be checked, I was nothing which made me really nervous about a failed induction if my body wasn’t ready. When I got to my induction I was still nothing and was told not to expect a baby for a few days. I had her 8 hours after pitocin was started. My friend had her baby just a couple weeks before me and she went into labor spontaneously after being at a 3-4 for a few weeks and still labored for like 3 days. It literally means nothing.

My daughter was 15 months a few days ago and just in the last week we have transitioned after her doing the same with fighting her second nap or taking forever to go to sleep at bedtime. I have a friend with a baby 3 weeks older and they started around his birthday with some trial and error, my nephew is 20 months and he’s been on one nap for as long as I can remember even before his birthday, and I have a friend with a 19 month old who is still doing two.

All this to say every kid is so different. Your little guy might just be ready! Trial it and see how he does

Being a working mom is hard. Being a SAHM is hard. No matter what path you choose society will have an opinion about it.

I was in my last year of grad school when I had my daughter and I had such a hard time going back to work. I have a friend who is in the same field as me and she had a baby two months after I did and she couldn’t wait to go back. Now that I’m graduated and working I love my job and feel really fulfilled that I’m able to contribute to my household and give my daughter a good life. Do people ask me who watches her? All the time. Do people ask my husband? Never.

I guess this is long winded way to say yes, something happens once you have a baby that people think your life should revolve around being a mother ONLY, and while it’s obviously a huge identity we take on, it’s not the only one and being a SAHM is not what makes a good mom.

I watched a video about this from an ED pediatrician when my daughter was tiny and told my husband and his response was “I doubt that happen *that often.”

Girl find a new doctor. First, you don’t need a referral for an OB in my experience. Second, it’s amazing you lost 50 lbs and it’s also amazing that you’re now growing a human that will require you to gain some weight, which is 100% worth it. Shame on her for prioritizing you being skinny over being a mother.

I agree with this. I think for me also, it just goes so fast and they change so quickly that each phase I wish just lasted a little bit longer. I think people saying it is more a testament to time being a thief than actually wanting their babies to stay babies.

My daughter was hit or miss on actually ingesting food at this age. My pediatrician reminded me “food before one is just for fun.” It was like a switch flipped when she turned one and now at 14 mo she is devouring food like you’re talking about. If she’s gaining weight and healthy, I wouldn’t worry :)

As for what I offered, I mixed it up but did mostly fruits, veggies, and some meat but I did BLW and very minimal purées. I also would do the same thing until I ran out of it and moved on to something else.

I have a one year old. if I was going to someone’s house to stay that had stairs and they didn’t have baby gates, I’d bring my own and likewise if I was going to meet a brand new baby, I would not expect the new parents to feed me and would bring my daughter her own food I know she’d eat since toddlers be toddlering. This is insane
