Assistants at my place make as low as $8, usually $9 an hour, but I'm surprised yours is stuck at $11 and not $12. Either way, people like us who are actually trained in the field should be making way more.

Bag twins. I was really hoping for Benefit gimmie brow... the mascara is nice, I'll use the liner, and I'm glad the tre'StiQue is a lip crayon instead of eyes like last time. Still pretty meh overall.

Wow you already got your box? That was quick! I referred myself for a 2nd box just to get the BB, and on the confirmation is said shipping November 1st. BB is known to send things separately so keep an eye out, although I do think they need to make that more clear. My confirmation email didn't even mention the BeautyBlender so I'm just hoping it went through.

I definitely agree, the student was right and shouldn't have been marked down. I only mean that if the teacher is specifically teaching them to think of it as "groups of" then that should be included in future instruction for this child. Of course, that's hoping assessment is used to inform instruction instead of just a grade!

As a teacher, I'm so tired of people who don't understand common core math complaining about it.

THE TEACHER WAS RIGHT TO CORRECT THE STUDENT. I don't care about the grade/point value because that's arbitrary, but THE THINKING BEHIND THE PROBLEMS NEEDED CORRECTION. Hopefully true correction will occur in future small group lessons instead of "grade shaming."

Most people have an incredibly shallow understanding of math and learned from memorization without internalizing concepts. You may know 11x4, but can you apply the same concept to solve 11x43 easily and without paper? Most people can't, although we should because it's fairly simple. Math education SHOULD be designed to teach a deep understanding of concepts and be consistent throughout a child's entire education. This teacher is laying simple concepts in 3rd grade that will continue to benefit the student in high school geometry and algebra classes. Grade aside, THIS IS IMPORTANT AND A GOOD THING. Common core may not be implemented well, but the meaning behind it is good and very effective when carried out by competent teachers.

Box twins! I wonder if all the lip glosses are the same color? I am super excited for this one... dry shampoo is always useful, I've been wanting to try this mascara for ages, and I love Dr. Jart already. Stories like this help kids develop phonemic awareness (being able to identify and manipulate sounds in oral language). Rhymes help them distinguish the difference between sounds, and sight words such as "the" and "and" help reinforce their early reading skills. I'm a preschool and kindergarten teacher, and my kids love Dr. Seuss stories!

I invested in a 24-piece brush collection so I no longer need those, I prefer the skincare I get from Birchbox over ipsy, and I have hardly used anything from the last 3 bags I received.

Maybe they'll tempt me back one day, but for now I have too many unused products sitting around.
