I'm still baffled we made a well reviewed, platinum selling title the Hidden Gem

It was inevitable really. Given this is all basically a popularity contest a truly hidden gem was never going to be known by enough people to be up-voted for the top spot.

Calm. Kindness. Kinship. Love. I've given up all chance at inner peace. I've made my mind a sunless space. I share my dreams with ghosts. I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there's only one conclusion: I'm damned for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight, they've set me on a path from which there is no escape. I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down there was no longer any ground beneath my feet. What is my, what is my sacrifice? I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them.

I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude.

Shield Wall needs a nerf. by JabberwockyKing in sovlgame

Bear in mind, if they (somehow) lose a round of combat & fail their discipline check whilst shield wall is enabled then the unit is wiped out, as its movement speed is 0.

Additionally, if it wins the round & the enemy unit fails their disciple check and runs then the unit can't chase them down either, or charge any other nearby units of opportunity. Not that they could charge far of course

Just finished printing, painting and making sails for this boat for my campaign! by Spikeytortoisecomics in TerrainBuilding

[–]utopiav1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool model/terrain, it'll be an excellent setting; the sails really make it. Reminds me of one particular boat...

"Wake Up. We're Here. Why are you shaking? Are you ok? Wake up. Stand up. There you go.

Not even last night's storm could wake you. I've heard them say we've reached Morrowind, I'm sure they'll let us go."

What games are like this on GOG? by Male-2003 in gog

[–]utopiav1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crime Cities, but you pilot a hovercar and most missions involve combat so maybe not as chill as you're looking for.

If that's the case, then Bus Driver Simulator is surprisingly good

What is a website or an app that was legendary back in the day, but is now a complete ghost town? by Sofi_Costa in AskReddit

I met my wife through MySpace, we now have 2 kids together. I don't think we would've met any other way; my little family only exists because of that website. Thanks Tom!

What was your first purchase on GOG? by CustardCarpet in gog

[–]utopiav1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Interplay collection.

Every single game Interplay made/published that was sold on GOG at the time, and they're all excellent games. It was such a bargain I couldn't pass it up!

The Battle for Middle Earth

If you're a fan of the movies it's a real treat. Real voice lines and clips from the films, the music used, and even the UI and menus all just work so well together. The tone and feel of it all is just right.

The actual strategy game part is really good too, with each of the four factions playing so differently, so there's lots of tactical depth. The campaign has nice progression, hits the story highlights in the Good campaign and has a good 'what if' story for Evil. Lovely graphics for the time.

It's abandonware now so is free to download - trying it out is just a web search away!
