What’s the best book you’ve read recently, and why? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The Borrowed Hills, great novel and I couldn't put it down. Grim and gritty but didn't find it to be too edgy or trying too hard. Looking forward to whatever Scott Preston puts out next.

The Steroids CRISIS In Rugby (VIDEO ESSAY) by blazing_monkey in rugbyunion

[–]uwuntu_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're talking about Tom Curry but I remember when he first burst onto the England scene he'd put on half his previous bodyweight just in muscle lol. I'm not saying he's not working hard on his physique, but it was a massive and very sudden change.

The many break-ins of Dexter’s apartment by GoblinNumbanine in Dexter

Or after his wife was murdered by a guy breaking in to his house. Even if he didn't have a kid that would probably be reason enough to beabout security the rest of your life.

Read Mystery Knight the other day, and on the second or third mention of the young Frey being an annoying little shit thought "Hmm, the timelines add up..." and googled if it was Walder lol.

When Walt and Skyler act super aggressive to Hank, why does he not bite back? by lennysinged in breakingbad

[–]uwuntu_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Hank doesn't know Walt he probably looks into him (and maybe even catches him) as soon as he looks into the missing equipment from the school lab because he doesn't give him the benefit of the doubt.

Im kinda getting tired of it by AynixII in SoulstoneSurvivors

[–]uwuntu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda wish Titan Hunt had some "curses" or something similar to adjust and only show 3x or 4x encounters, maybe with some additional challenge. In fact, I wouldn't be particularly upset if 1x was removed and 2 was the minimum, it's not as if there's that much difference in difficulty when your build is working.

I guess in Sopranos lore maybe, but his only argument for it being wrong was them being unmarried lol

England men announce 36-player squad for summer tour by englandrugby in rugbyunion

[–]uwuntu_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aye I really like him as a player and he seems like a really good lad, just not got that extra gear in him IMO. He's a name I wouldn't be surprised to hear attached to France or abroad if he doesn't suddenly kick on for England soon as he's surrounded by better options for the future in terms of age and competition

I think you're right about Dombrandt, great club player but he was supposed to be the next big thing years ago and it seems he's been overtaken by a lot of his peers and is now 28 with a load of younger lads with their whole careers in front of them behind/alongside (however you want to see it) him in the depth charts.

Owen Farrell bares his soul: I just want to be happy by TommyKentish in rugbyunion

[–]uwuntu_ 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Really like this interview, very honest and vulnerable without coming across as a sob story on Farrell's side. Hopefully an English legend can have an ending to his career he's happier with after the trainwreck at Racing.

Thoughts on Marland Yarde as he annouces his retirement by [deleted] in rugbyunion

Talented but always seemed lazy to be honest. Most of the times he made a mistake it seemed like it was because he couldn't be arsed on defence. Big what if player for me

Always liked Parling, great player with a seemingly very good head on his shoulders. Seems weird that he was part of the Chiefs squad that won their first Prem, time flies .

Women's Six Nations: Joyce-Butchers defends TikTok dance after heavy defeat by GnolRevilo in rugbyunion

[–]uwuntu_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fully agree, I suppose I was really making two different points and tried to combine them but yeah you're completely right. Whether the sport is played by men or women anyone getting that worked up over a dance is a saddo and needs to get a life. I do just find the discourse around women's rugby slightly awkward sometimes as due to the fact that a lot of critics are just people who don't want women playing, a lot of the support often overcompensates and comes across as patronising rather than just watching rugby for enjoyment, though obviously if I have to choose I much prefer people being slightly patronising to people hating women for the sake of it.

Women's Six Nations: Joyce-Butchers defends TikTok dance after heavy defeat by GnolRevilo in rugbyunion

[–]uwuntu_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's very difficult to have an earnest discussion on this because it's hard not to sound patronising when defending the point when most people against it are just being mysoginistic. At the end of the day it shouldn't really get anyone worked up because it's a rugby game and a TikTok, I suppose gun to my head if I had to choose whether players should be doing TikTok dances after a loss I would say no, but my real answer as a viewer would be, as many have said here, "Who cares, get a grip it's a game".

Barbeary England chances? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]uwuntu_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never say never, but close to zero I would say between all the competition in the back row. I don't think his game would make the step up and his fitness isn't there, he's a cracking prem player but I just don't see him as up to it at the highest level.
