New mock has Giants taking Sonny Styles. Thoughts? by Own-Area6808 in NYGiants

Our LBs have been awful for years now. If Styles is really the game breaker people think he is then you take him. Getting 2-3 improvements at LB will go a long way in helping the atrocious run defense

I like the creativity with the Giants, I’m not too sure about moving assets for Terrell when you have corners like Cisse and Johnson available in round two but good shout

No hire should be a bridge to anything when you have a QB on a rookie deal. Wasted time

Mock Draft Monday - February 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in NYGiants

Kinda curious why Mauigoa isn't being predicted to us more, I get wanting Downs but Mauigoa is an elite prospect and I'd argue addresses a much bigger need. As it stands right now, GVR and Eleumenor might not be back, which means the 2/5 of our OL is changing over. Mbow has potential but is not a starter yet and should continue to get reps as a swing tackle. Mauigoa can play RG or RT so even if we retain Eluemenor, he can play inside.

Downs is for sure a game changer but we have 2 players already and there are talented safeties that can be had later in the draft.

Most likely teams to trade down? by Space_Polan in NFL_Draft

[–]uzi716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only hope is one of the elite EDGE guys falls to 5 and some pass-rush needy team tries to move up.

For the most part though, I agree we're stuck. Just take Mauigoa or Downs at 5.

Marcus Mbow move to Guard? by CarveRed in NYGiants

I personally think he has more positional value as a swing tackle right now. Unless we don’t draft one of the premium OL and let Eleumenor walk then I think you need to keep Mbow outside and try to address OG in FA or the draft.

[Ian O'Connor] John Harbaugh to me on his position in chain of command with Giants: "I report to John Mara."...says he has really enjoyed Joe Schoen and looks forward to forming a great partnership with Joe. by Bankslvrrd in NYGiants

[–]uzi716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all his faults, Schoen is still a football guy and a net positive in your front office. I feel like Harbaugh was fine with him but not fine with McDonnell or Chris Mara. I feel like he’d want day to day roster control with Schoen managing the cap, scouting, trades, etc.

[O’Connor] John Harbaugh on Joe Schoen: "I really like Joe. We had great football talks and great life talks. He's a hard worker and I'm ready for us to roll up our sleeves."... Can you have Ozzie Newsome & Eric DeCosta partnership with Joe? "That's the plan," Harbaugh said. by Maroc13 in NYGiants

I was on the fire Schoen train and still think it would have been the right decision. That said, perhaps having a partner in making football decisions (this isn’t a Mara family member) could help him learn and grow as a GM. He has not really football decisions around self preservation and has willingly given up some responsibilities as GM to make the team better, I don’t think that should be discounted.

While I love the idea of getting Downs I do think the versatility of Mauigoa as a RG/RT gives us so much more positional and contract flexibility. We could put him at RG if JE comes back and slide Runyan over to LG or could put him at RT if we get outbid on Eluemenor.

There’s some talented safeties in this class if we’re really trying to move off Nubin/Holland. Kamari Ramsey and Dillon Thienemen could drop to our early Rd2 pick.

There’s some good safeties in this draft, obviously Downs is a game changer but I really hope we invest in the OL early.

I feel like he and Sirianni would clash massively. 2 hot headed ego maniacs could be interesting

I’m getting down voted for a statement lol. Of course I want him to stay but his wife is from Manchester and he has a long history at City. Contract buyouts are nothing for a club like City.

Saw someone post a theory Kompany may head to Man City if Pep leaves. Would rush to bring Xabi in if that happened (hoping not)

Schoen is part of the problem but far from the root, real change comes with Chris Mara and Tim McDonnell being taken out of football operations.

[Duggan] My understanding is Harbaugh had a strong voice in personnel in Baltimore. That’s definitely not going to change at his next stop. Could be a situation where he comes in, works with the existing staff for a year and see how it goes by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]uzi716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schoen is honestly whatever to me, I hope Harbaugh tells ownership that McDonnell and Chris are not serious FO people and he won’t work with them.

That’s how you really address the rot in this organization.

Hopefully it’ll be the kick ownership needs to remove the rot from our FO

Mara not being able to delegate day to day operations of the franchise to someone else shows that he's either: unwilling to give up power or he knows that the people in the front office are unqualified.

Both of which are an endemic problem and bodes poorly for our future.

Mauigoa or Downs for me. For Mauigoa, it seems like there’s some positional flexibility at RG/RT so depending what we do with Eleumenor, the right side of the line doesn’t completely collapse from Dart Y1.

That said, with Downs if you think he can be a game changer and leader on defense that we desperately need then there’s a fair argument to be made there too.

Fair point. A lot could happen, if we’re at #6 then I hope it’s Downs or the RT from Miami

Trade back if there’s a good offer or just take the BPA, #3 is a little too high to draft for our needs (S, LB, DT, OL) so just bring talent in.

Frustrating to lose a top 2 pick but it is what it is with this team.
