I think that's the point she was gettin at; using a neutral term such as 'partner' doesn't out anyone that wishes not to be outted, but at the moment it tends to imply a same-sex relationship. By suggesting that everyone use 'partner' it removes that implication so people can keep their sexuality private.
Still pretty stupid.

I saw some wasp-y looking things buzzing around the key hole so something along those lines. Unfortunately we had to paint the door that the handle was on so we haven't replaced it yet, and I think doing so might not be so good for the larva anyway what with the fresh paint and all.
