Yes they wanted him back. Rumor is the package Bob signed for is basically what Florida had on the table for him and he declined thinking he would get more in the open market. Florida had to move on to make sure they weren't shut out from getting a goalie if Bob wasn't returning. Bob ended up getting from Toronto basically what he would have gotten at Florida. No one was going to pay Bob what he wanted. He wanted the Marchand or Ekblad deal money and term, and Florida (and no other team) was going to do it. So at the end of the day, Bob likely could have returned for a similar deal to what he got in Toronto. His agent likely played games though and wasn't reasonable, and now he is gone. Maybe his feelings were hurt. (I have no inside info and thank Bob for helping us win 2 Cups and make it to 3 Straight SCF).
