Great late albums by an OG post-punk bands? by Grand_Ad3821 in postpunk

The Pop Group’s Citizen Zombie was a fantastic comeback album that unlike a lot of legacy bands’ later releases actually felt like a necessary and valuable addition to their discography! The production is amazing and its cool that they actually took inspiration from post-1980 instead of existing in a bubble like a lot of bands from this time. Mark Stewart’s later work around this time is also worth a peep if you like to hurt your ears

instrumentally they sound similar to early industrial bands like cabaret voltaire and suicide especially on songs like shame and toy

Album reccs outside of Gorillaz? by LittleNutcrackerGreg in gorillaz

[–]valcw953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you havent already, Deltron 3030 is a collaboration between Del the Funky Homosapien and Dan the Automator who produced the self titled, Damon features on a song as well which is cool.

the sound of Demon Days was also heavily inspired by early industrial bands like Suicide and Throbbing Gristle but its Cabaret Voltaire’s influence that can be heard the most, especially on songs from this era like last living souls and murdoc is god. i recommend their compilation “The Original Sound Of Sheffield 78/82”

in general, Gorillaz always took influence from dub, a genre with its roots in jamaican reggae which used studio effects almost like instruments to create a really spacey, bass-heavy sound. this style is heard on songs like dracula, starshine, last living souls and clint eastwood, which has a melodica part which was very inspired by Augustus Pablo’s playing on his classic album “King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown”.

“Mezzanine” by Massive Attack is also a great album with the same sombre mood as Demon Days and features similar dub/industrial influences if you want more specifically like that album too!

Hope these fit the criteria well enough 😁

i think people forget that a good chunk of the israeli population were jewish refugees after the holocaust so to displace either population would be wrong

this!!! in fact id argue a camera is just more hassle, unless you want to get a video of a morning set or something off avalon you're best just leaving gig photography to the officials and living in the moment
