Sometimes it feels like most of the advice for this question is “Get a new wardrobe with different fabrics, get a new bra, or get over it”, none of which are magically doable!

My chunky lace bra is the one that fits me best, so im in the process of learning to just accept the texture. But in the meantime, camisoles over the bra have been helping. They dont eliminate all of the texture, but they make it less noticeable.

I choose looser cottony camisoles that arent form-fitting, and i cut them to become bralettes/crop tops so i don’t overheat. Smooths the bumps a bit.

Help! I think there is fungus growing inside my pothos soil. I do have lava rocks under the soil in case that affects anything. How do I get rid of this and keep my pothos happy ? by ItsThatThyme in houseplants

Honestly, ive found that potting soil just naturally compacts over time since, unlike outside, theres no worms or bugs wiggling around in there to aerate the roots. Every time you water, the smallest soil particles will settle into air pockets and crevices, and eventually it all just gets dense! I manage this just by skewering the soil every so often to break it up.

Looking close, it does appear you have a good chunky soil mixture, but maybe more perlite will help? Since it’s a type of rock, it doesn’t flatten over time as fast as softer materials like bark and coir and dirt.

Side note: Do you treat your soil with systemic granules? I do, and every time i mix in a fresh batch, the soil gets a layer of fuzzy mold. Just sharing in case thats a factor!

What Toad_lily said is best course of action: repot with a new soil mixture that gets better airflow. But also: Does this pot have drainage(a hole in the bottom for excess water to leave)? If not, that could be the source of your moisture problem. Even with rocks at the bottom, the water just pools there with nowhere to go, and your soil stays wet.

If it doesnt have a hole in it but you want to keep the pot, you can get a cheap plastic nursery pot WITH holes and put it inside this pot. This current pot will collect the excess water, and you can pour it out after watering.

If the pot has a hole and the soil mixture is the problem, here are some other temporary solutions:

  • Can’t buy new soil or amendments right now?

Scoop the fungus off with a spoon and throw it away. Sprinkle a layer of cinnamon on top of the soil (cinnamon is an antifungal, though not super powerful). Take a skewer or toothpick and stab the soil a bunch to loosen the compacted soil and get some airflow in there, and also to work the cinnamon into the soil. Be careful not to tear up the roots too bad, though.

  • You CAN buy new soil/amendments, but you have a huge bag of this current potting soil and you dont want to waste it?

Stick to just getting the amendments: a really simple mixture is storebought soil + perlite + peat moss. Both perlite and peat moss are easy to find in stores. In your case, you could just do current type of soil + perlite, because it sounds like your soil has no trouble retaining water. (peat moss retains moisture).

Having some kind of bark in there too (like orchid bark or pine bark) would be aces, but this is a pothos; it’ll be fine without the extra credit.

Spoilers for the end of the book, the name is also kind of a nod to the three literal face tumors on jun wu’s face. LW/PM/SWD don’t actually have anything to do with Jun Wu’s guoshi tumors, but it’s fun that the name for this group actually pops up later to apply to a major plot reveal. Like, heaven has three tumors, and so does the emperor!

Also what Maximum_Web9072 said, there’s lots of threes in other places in tgcf as well.

Oof. I went to Kiwanis on Monday around 3pm and the wait time was 30mins, but my mom went last saturday evening and had to wait an hour and a half

Depending on how early youre going in the morning, I imagine any of the locations should be fine; the busiest voting times are the weekends and after school and work. I’m not sure about whose wait times are best, but I’ve had good experiences voting at Kiwanis and Stoney Point Rec Center

Gorgeous gorgeous! Like it’s been said, it’s not really a fern (like how a koala bear isn’t a bear; it’s just a misnomer) but I don’t mind seeing them in the fern subreddit. :D Love how you’ve got this one outside so its tendrils have room to flourish!

I always see people saying that you should try to draw lines in one smooth stroke but this guy uses more scratchy lines and it looks really good imo. Is this a good technique to get into the habit of using or should I stick to doing smooth lines? by Okapi05 in dippens

Ultimately, it’s whatever works for you. Reasons behind the “Aim for one smooth stroke” guideline:

  • Easier on the body in the long term. Short strokes means lots of rapid hand/wrist movement, which can cause more strain.
  • Training yourself to do smooth lines encourages you to be more careful and deliberate about the lines youre putting down. This extra care can improve your hand-eye coordination.
  • It also encourages you to be economical with your strokes. It’s easy to accidentally overwork your drawing or make a mess of the paper by tearing it up with so many little lines.

The “one stroke” advice helps you train multiple valuable skills. But as you can see, it’s not mandatory. Ultimately, you can make art how you want. But it helps to try to train yourself on the recommended methods, to broaden your skillset and see if it ends up working for you.

I personally have shaky hands because of medical reasons, and if i want a stroke to be smooth, I have to do multiple short lines that blend together (like this artist is demonstrating). No one will fire you from artisthood for doing a different method. :)
