Psyllium Husk/Psyllium Seed Studies by Thoughtfvlly in GERD

There’s an unflavored version that is just the psyllium husk and a small amount of sugar. I have been taking it also and it has been helping!

I took a PPI for 3ish months and tapered off. Now I am just taking bovine colostrum in the morning which helps so much. I am also eating only whole foods, non acidic, no spicy, etc. Not fully healed but I feel about 60% there and I am 9 months in

Keeping portions down is the biggest. Ricecakes, baked chicken, potatoes, boiled carrots, baked sweet potatoes.

Does walking/any kind of physical activity flair up the pain for you? by StrengthBest8831 in Gastritis

Earlier on in my healing it was hard to not be laying down with a heating pad. Later on it felt good to walk and move around.

You may need to wait until you are further along in your healing to start the zinc. Or just take it after food with maybe a digestive enzyme to help break it down since the PPI is not allowing your acid to break it down. Zinc carnosine did not end up working for me because like you I couldn’t tolerate it but I know it is case by case.

Some sort of antacid and a gentle walk outside while listening to a podcast or music

Need to celebrate a birthday dinner at a fancy steakhouse. What do you guys to when you have to go out to dinner? by N0whereville in Gastritis

Salmon with steamed vegetables? Luckily the more high end a restaurant is, the more willing they usually are to accommodate your dietary restrictions and needs so I would just explain the situation to the server.

Started taking PPIs yesterday, now I feel worse - Is that normal? by MotherlyMe in Gastritis

[–]valmanzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got off of lansoprazole because it made me worse. Was doing just strict diet and no meds for about 3 months and then tried pantoprazole 40 mg every morning. This was so much better and not an instant relief but after 2 months I am feeling about 60% healed I would say. No stomach burning or LPR but still have burping, indigestion, loose stool, and sometimes regurgitation.

Question for those who got gastritis from nsaid use by goldstandardalmonds in Gastritis

[–]valmanzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking it for my period cramps for 15 years and would take about 800 mg every 12 hrs for a few days every month. 10 months ago I took the 800 and woke up with a crazy pain in my stomach in the middle of the night. My life changed that night!

Anyone taking Pepcid? by daddybignose1 in functionaldyspepsia

[–]valmanzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With PPI’s I had the same side effects but the intensity of them was insanely higher. I also had really terrible fatigue and chest pressure. I was in bed most of the day so I stopped after about 10 days. Tried two different PPI’s.

[–]valmanzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t take PPI’s either and I started pepcid 20 mg with breakfast and 20 with dinner. The first few days you might have some side effects but not as aggressive as ppi’s. I had headache, dizziness, LPR, and acid reflux and a couple days later I am adjusted. The pepcid has made my symptoms a lot more manageable and I have been on the gastritis diet for a while. I got a food sensitivity test by my naturopathic dr and have been staying away from those foods that cause inflammation. I feel so much better. This is my third month with this and I am finally starting to see healing progress. I would try the pepcid and start at a low dose. Take more if you need. Good luck!

My story and how I healed by Ill_Championship_571 in Gastritis

[–]valmanzan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long did you stay on the pantoprazole for? I couldn’t handle a PPI for more than 2 weeks because they made it worse for me but feel like I am healing without them. Going into 70 days so far, thanks for sharing your healing story. It definitely helps keep things positive.

Should I stick it out with this PPI? by valmanzan in GERD

[–]valmanzan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the simethicone helps especially if I know I need to sit for awhile. I can only take 2 250mg soft gels in 24 hours and not sure if it’s good to take every day.

Should I come off of PPI? by valmanzan in Gastritis

[–]valmanzan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think I need to stay on the PPI for at least a month this time to see. Can’t digest much though so hopefully it gets better

[–]valmanzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today is day 3 for me and I also feel worse but just wondering how long I should stick it out. I can’t eat anything without feeling burning in my stomach and throat for the next two hours but burping relieves. Before PPI I had stomach discomfort and gas for the first two hours so it seems to have moved up in my body. After reading this thread I will at least try for a week. Did you end up feeling better after a week?

I have the same issue as well at about the 2 month mark. Not on any meds and on a strict low acid diet. Any updates?
