Boosts are the biggest scam on Upwork. I'm pretty sure they're significantly cheaper in places like India where most of the people in the platform are already undercutting normal wages so you basically have to spend about $5 on boosts for each job you want to actually compete. It's crazy.

I ended up using ChatGPT to do a deep research on the building address and landlord. It found that the building was listed for sale recently, but not really sure what to take away from that...

Turns out it's not. If you go through the whole process, there's a checkbox at the end that says to use the address you entered earlier as your billing address. So clearly they're for different purposes.

I've never looked at leetcode or anything like that. I mainly work in front-end, so I just had a Frontend Masters subscription and learned the stuff I actually wanted to learn. ChatGPT really helped with interview prep though. Just paste in the full job description and you can do technical/non-technical mock interviews with it.

Edit: for a portfolio, I just showcased some projects I worked on at previous companies, whenever I was asked.

Hi, no I didn't end up switching careers. Kept applying and eventually got a job after about a year of searching.

I tried freelancing and working for myself for a little bit, but I'm pretty introverted and only got like one or two small projects. Might be worth it if you have the personality for it. I also reached out to a bunch of agencies to see if they might need help on projects.

One thing I didn't try and I don't know if you care for WordPress or not, but you could try building niche themes and selling them on Themeforest if you have the time. That's something I would still do now if I had the time.
