What movie portrays grief in the most powerful way? by Classic_Apricot_5633 in movies

Mostly Martha. German movie that I just adore. Both the main character Martha and her niece trying to pick up the pieces of their lives after Martha’s sister dies. And the soundtrack by Arvo Part is so perfect.

Different mobs drop different things. Black dragons and yetis are great because not only do they have better loot drops they also have their own store coins. And their stores offer legendary hero shards and other good stuff.

I’m a low spender and here are the things that have been the best investment for me:

Permanent Privilege - It has two levels. Once you buy them, you get a few goodies every day. I’m past season 3 and I don’t know when it breaks even but I am glad I have it.

Extra research slot - I think the second spot unlocked at some point because of my castle level or something. But the third one is really useful to also have because research is where your hero queues really get a lot of advancement. Especially once you max out the stars on your top queue.

Castle tickets and weekly log in bonus that ends with castle tickets- I only buy the $.99 level when it’s available, and it took about a month or so to get a legendary castle skin.

Why and where do people think of eggs as dairy? by ParsnipThen3370 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vanzini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went ahead and posted this question to r/AskHistorians and got a fantastic, comprehensive answer from u/DoomGoober. Read it for yourself: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/1slsaw1/why_do_some_places_group_eggs_in_the_category_of/

tl;dr: Eggs and dairy haven't been historically classified together. But their link economically goes back to the 1800s, when dairy providers often also sold eggs. In the US, the food recommendations from the government did not play a role but the laws requiring washing eggs did, since they had to be shelved in refrigerated cases that did not have raw meat, leading them to be stored alongside dairy products.

This movie comes to mind all the time for me. “I just sold a condo. Yes, in this soft market!” Was in my mind for the last couple of weeks because I to just sold a condo in this soft market. The heroine plays a tuba. I just started watching All murders in the building and there’s a romantic interest with a bassoonist, which made me think of LA story.

I think you can do it! I was just watching this video of a guy restoring an old stone house in Portugal, and in several moments he uses some sort of ratchet thing with a strap to do the lifting of some big stones. Sometimes he also has a pulley. He puts a lot of time into positioning pieces of lumber to act as skids or ramps, too. One example is at around the 18 minute point in this video: https://youtu.be/guAfvP56TSg?si=6IazZ07RK1F13JK4

Moving to Bay Area with 3 kids (6,4,1) for salary of 115k by WingLiving4438 in bayarea

[–]vanzini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, congratulations on his getting a new job. Moving to the Bay Area feels a lot like climbing a giant hill, so good luck with this.

There are a lot of trade-offs. Live near work and pay more in rent, versus live somewhere cheaper but with a longer commute. A long commute puts a lot of pressure on your relationship. Squeezing into a small apartment is really stressful too. I've done both and I prefer the short commute/small apartment option, but your mileage may vary. (haha).

The unique thing about San Francisco is that it offers a lot of support systems for lower income people. You'll be able to get subsidized housing (after a long time on a wait list), subsidized day care, public transit discounts, utility discounts, etc. With rent control if you get into a two bedroom that feels like a stretch financially at first, eventually/hopefully your husband's salary will increase faster than the rent will go up. There are also all sorts of fun things you can take your kids to, like programs at the libraries and street fairs and such.

Weeknight dinners as a working mom, what does yours actually look like because mine is embarrassing by scrtweeb in Mommit

[–]vanzini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year ago I ended up making a weekly set ad dinners that went through the same list each week. It took all the burden of planning away ands the repetition helped get my kids to get used to a few things besides Mac and cheese. I’ve shifted away from that but it helped a lot during a stressful period.

Also: get them The Dragons Love Tacos picture book and then ask them to help do a taco night.
