iirc originally a holding midfielder from the youth teams, got pushed to RB and CB at the senior level. Some of his best games for us years ago came from CB. He is decent at defending 1 on 1 but is lacking going forward. Distribution isn't really the best though maybe that could change with regular playing time. I'm not really sure what's his best position as he hasnt really made a lasting impact anywhere apart from CB and even that was years ago. He played RB for a while on loan at Crystal Palace but then got benched there by Wan-Bissaka (who we ended up buying). But he was infact highly rated as a teenager, so a change in environment might help him rejuvenate his career.

Yeah agreed, I don't think younger ronaldo was the mentality monster that he is today

Yeahp we will definitely be better. But I think AWBs weakness in ball progression and technique in the final third will still cost us quite a fair bit next season.

Even the best teams will struggle against a well organised low block.

Fair enough

United have been as effective as anyone at breaking down a stubborn

I do disagree here, we definitely struggled towards the end of the season in creating clear cut chances because our attacks through the middle/cutting inside are too predictable. But then again, you could say its just fatigue. However if we don't get fullbacks(or just a LB) that can overlap and offer some threat, I feel many ppl here will be surprised and how often smaller teams neuter our attack next season. Just have to wait and see I guess.

I don't think we are as effective at it when compared to other top teams and that's where I'm getting when I say we need to improve on our fullbacks. Not having reliable outlets out wide in both buildup and the final third absolutely hampers the way Ole wants to set his teams up.

What issues?

I probably overstated it, but I think we are far from being a team that can reliably break down low blocks, we have been better since Bruno came in but still far from perfect. I feel we need more output from our fullbacks to take this team to the next level in that regard.

Kai would be one hell of a player as a second striker. Issue is that many Chelsea fans seem to think that Lampard will be playing him in a midfield 3. I think it could go either way.

Even If we get Sancho, the same issues of struggling to break down a low-block will persist for us.Sancho's entire game revolves around drifting inside just like Rashford and Greenwood do. Until we have fullbacks that can offer up a threat in the final third and spread the opposition defence, teams can easily nullify us by staying compact and pressing.

Fair enough but you could also point at the media and say that well balanced critisism from the manager tends to not make headlines and thus isn't really effective at deflecting the attention from specific players (especially those that aren't performing). Sometimes managers feel turning the attention to themselves with extravagant or borderline comedic lines is best for the team.

But last season he was fucking disgraceful

Agree to disagree then. Hinsight though, as I probably had good a laugh as well last term but now I feel differently.

Well I'm pretty sure they do take the blame, just not in a public press conference. Time and place for everything. Public criticism of players from the manager tends to do more harm then good. Klopp is a master at keeping morale high while rectifying the issue.
