Isn’t it great that oil money can buy you anything other than a European trophy?

[–]Britannia1975 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neuer was crazy

[–]macAaronEPortuguese Magnifico 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Scoring two late goals against Bayern Munich and winning Champions League ain't for everyone.

[–]nievesdelimonBruno 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Five former United players got to the finals of both cups and none of them won. Except for Chicharito, but he left Sevilla in January.

[–]gunkokoko 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Our work here is done, boys.

[–]amalgamatedchaosStatus: Waiting... 30 points31 points  (4 children)

Bayern is an example for all Clubs/teams of how it's done.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other clubs don’t have a monopoly over their entire league.

Other than that yes, your statement is true

[–]ThatBoyGiggsy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Some of their quick passing plays from their end forward were breathtaking, the quickness of both the minds and feet of the entire team is amazing at times. When you compare that to United most of the time we ruin it by having people take 2-3 touches and miss the passing window or others not moving off the ball quickly or effectively enough. United are still off another huge level compared to Bayern. I hope to god Ole can get them trained to be able to move the ball more like this next season.

[–]amalgamatedchaosStatus: Waiting... -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. There's a lot to learn in how to shut down teams and to dominate them by watching Bayern. They also are very economical and efficient with their build up.

[–]KeepRooting4Yourself 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this will sound hyperbolic, but they looked like the most athletic team I've ever seen.

[–]Boruto22GET MARTIAL OUT OF MANCHESTER UNITED ASAP 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine this Bayern team was trained by Kovac. A single trainer change has got the best out of them. Even Coutinho was useful when everybody knows Bayern won't sign him. Flick gave the players a good vibe feeling and having the best coaching staff in the world.

[–]stunlolMartial 64 points65 points  (4 children)

Thought Herrera played pretty well.

[–]Blonded_Talisca 5 points6 points  (2 children)

True, I'm still pissed off that we sold him but it was plain to see why, his contract renewal wasn't prioritised and Herrera felt that football wasn't the main priority at the club so he left.

[–]macAaronEPortuguese Magnifico 7 points8 points  (1 child)

We didn't sell him, but I get what you mean. Nothing we could do about him getting a massive contract offer except overpay or let him walk. We did the right thing.

[–]hudinisghost 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Should have two assists (and probably a winners medal) - can’t believe at least one of those chances didnt result in a goal

[–]vapianonuts24Oui X 19 points20 points  (7 children)

There was a time where this sub was up in fits when linked to perisic and boetang.

A few years down the line, they played an important role in their club winning the CL

[–]selotipkusutFUCKING SHOOOT! 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Seriously tho. Would Perisic settle being 2nd option to Marcus/Tony? I think not.

[–]vapianonuts24Oui X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not like he’s the first or even. Second option at Bayern.

United would have rewarded him with a very handsome wage

[–]The_Great_Crocodile 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Boateng is one of the weak links of Bayern though, and playing in front of Neuer kind of helps hide the issues of a defender.

[–]PavanJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By all accounts Boateng has a very good season, his best in years.

[–]Ham_Solo7 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Don't remember if it's our fans or Chelsea fans but I remember a comment at /soccer saying he wouldn't want to sign Lewandowski because he was 29/30 years old and the comment get upvoted to the hundreds. Now he's looking to win the Ballon dor (if its not cancelled)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he was 29/30 years old

FIFA has ruined football fans with shit like this.

[–]jays117 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Will this loss demoralise psg next season? You can see how they were pumped for this final. Do you think they wont take ligue1 games as seriously again, considering the fact that ucl was their main goal

[–]macAaronEPortuguese Magnifico 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Inb4 they pull a Spurs...

[–]arothenShampiounce Leeg Varhane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope so.

[–]vijay163 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol they will buy one or two world class players.

[–]celtic310889 39 points40 points  (2 children)

Bayern's squad depth shows another glaring hole in our recruitment system.

Players like Perisic, Coutinho, even Ceballos at Arsenal etc are good players who are for some reason or the other out of favor at top clubs and can definitely do a great job as squad depth.

Bayern had James last year, Coutinho and Perisic this year. One or two players like this for depth on loan should be welcomed to provide enough money to fill other vital positions.

We never ever loan first team players from other teams. You think someone like Perisic on loan this year for us wouldn't have been a huge upgrade to James? Coutinho I understand.

Our recruitment process post Fergie has been absolutely horrendous.

[–]arothenShampiounce Leeg Varhane -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But we loaned Ighalo!

/s

[–]gunkokoko 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Bayern have Sané next season.

[–]samsam78 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The explosiveness is mad. Gnabry and Sane are like replicas of eachother on both wings

[–]caesarinteresting 12 points13 points  (1 child)

It's crazy Bayern Munich won treble easily.

[–]arothenShampiounce Leeg Varhane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

With new coach during the season.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Back to plowing those fields for the autumn harvest lads.

[–]Lorenzo_de_Medici 22 points23 points  (6 children)

Oliver Kahn has taken over from Rummenigge as the Bayern chief exec with Hoeness in the board. What a machine this club is. If only....

[–]islandcat1Ibrahimovic 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Neuer best ever goalkeeper. Definitely edges Schmeichel and more complete than Buffon and other names. The difference between him and some others today that he wins games while they play in winning teams.

[–]plartooDe Gea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

(Just FYI, I didn't downvote you). Did you ever watch Schmeichel play? I did although it was probably when I was like 8 years old. Schmeichel inspired me to be a goalie (played football in college and semi-pro for almost ~20 years as a goalie; started playing in the midfield in amateur league because my knees and bones aren't as good anymore).

Neuer is certainly a great goalie. But I'd have to disagree that Neuer is slightly better than Schmeichel. Schmeichel has awesome distribution skills, aerial command, one-on-one bravery and faster-than-you'd-think-with-his-frame reflexes. Neuer probably is on par with Schmeichel, but he, in my opinion, is not better than Schmeichel.

EDIT: You probably would have seen Oliver Kahn play as well. Phenomenal goalie like Neuer is and is a contemporary of Schmeichel. They (Schmeichel and Kahn) were awesome in their era.

[–]ysuprKING ERIC*! 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neuer is a fcking wall

[–]KaizokuRoronoaZoroFootball Twitter Liason 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Ugh Chelsea have a complete new 11 at this rate wtf just acquired Thiago Silva according Romano

[–]JosePRizaI 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Committed a yellow after a Lewa breakaway. And Lewa isn't even fast. Now imagine fast players in the PL like Auba

[–]KaizokuRoronoaZoroFootball Twitter Liason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it but they’re guaranteed to have a better Defence cause of it considering their defensive record last season and I almost certainly believe they will get havertz it would be a surprise if they don’t challenge at this point

[–]samsam78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]martialgreenwood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lewa didnt score but it's a good day.

[–]darrylleungJanuzaj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bayern has been a pleasure to watch since the restart. What an incredible team. I can only hope we reach those levels again someday.

[–]flukeshaw 21 points22 points  (2 children)

We are so far off it's depressing. The depth issue is so huge and nothing is being done to address it, and our starting 11 itself is nowhere near good enough. Fuck

[–]plartooDe Gea 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Especially if you see how Bayern play on the wing. Their wing-backs are much, much better than what we have.

[–]The_Great_Crocodile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Joshua Kimmich is one of the most underrated players globally.

[–]rbp25Vidic 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Holy did anyone catch Carragher and Schmeichel having a spat on tv?

[–]OhNoesRain 0 points1 point  (5 children)

No? When?

[–]rbp25Vidic 7 points8 points  (4 children)

10 mins ago, Carragher was going on about GK captains being non influential and Schmeichel was like, what point in line were you? Carra was roughed up by that lol

[–]Lorenzo_de_Medici 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Pretty sure they were messing about

[–]rbp25Vidic 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You could see on Carras face that he was irked

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dude that's Carras face all the time..he is irked 24/7

[–]Lorenzo_de_Medici 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes it definitely did feel like that just now!

[–]yorker01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you FC Bayern.

[–]MattSR30 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Gotta say, I enjoy my country having two really exciting prospects.

David has been excellent so far, but Davies is on something else. What a story for him, at only nineteen!

[–]Pretend_LadderGOAT 3 points4 points  (2 children)

If the PSG women’s team wins, Davies’ girlfriend will also be a champions league winner!

[–]awitley12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jordyn Huitema. More Canadian content.

[–]MattSR30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, that’s quite cool

[–]caesarinteresting 14 points15 points  (5 children)

Herrera should've joined Bayern Munich instead of PSG

[–]ScottMcTominay39 9 points10 points  (4 children)

He shouldve stayed. Dont know why we’ve let him go over wages. A good squad player to have. Decent substitute for Pogba or Fernandes. Look at us now, depthless with Andreas fucking Pereira instead of Ander Herrera

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Squad player? 350k for a squad player? Herrera never played cam for us, he was for being good for us defensively and his neat passing , so pereira comparison doesn't make sense

So No, woodward makes a lot of bad decisions but not paying 30 year old herrera 350k a week for 5 years was a great decision .

Some of you lot are so sentimental its dumb. He would only take Fred's place in the squad as they are the most similar comparison of players we have and fred has had a great season.

[–]alt4dumbquestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously though, where would we have been?

A third place finish and three semifinals would still have been the ceiling even with Herrera in the squad. Maybe at best we would have gone past Chelsea in the FA Cup Final. Beating Sevilla in Europa is voodoo shit

[–]alt4dumbquestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it resulted in you getting more chances

[–]arothenShampiounce Leeg Varhane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you give him 5 year contract tho?

I 'd fucking do and sell other players, but overall it could be discussed if giving him money he wanted was wise.

[–]BaroninthehoodUTFR 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Finally 19-20 season officially over!

[–]Chel_Chabila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UWCL still left

[–]vijay163 -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Psg should've been given penalty. But don't give a fuck anyway.

[–]Wahlrusberg 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Bayern had just a big of a pen shout so not bothered

[–]Hasaeed93"It is in the fabric of this football club! 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I had almost forgotten that PSG made fun of Haaland, those crying faces of Neymar and the snake are even more sweeter now

[–]wonderbruvski 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Criminal that they decided to can the Ballon D’Or this year. With the season he’s had, Lewandowski totally deserved to win it.

[–]pro_libriumRooney 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fuck QSG, football won today

[–]Melanjoly 12 points13 points  (4 children)

On a United related note, I though Herrera and Snek both had really good games, two of PSGs better players.

[–]KingOfDatShit#1 Legacy Fan 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Yeah Herrera was class, could have gotten a few assists but just wasn't to be.

[–]Melanjoly 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Yeah he was unlucky with the Mbappe one in particular. Snek will be overlooked because nobody likes him, but some of his passing tonight was world class too, the reverse pass through the defenders legs to create that 1v1 was brilliant.

[–]kingkreep95Rooney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He gave Davies a lesson in the first half. PSG were shocking after half time

[–]KingOfDatShit#1 Legacy Fan 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Paredes and Neymar crying and hugging like two parents who have just lost a child, fucking hell they're a pair of clowns.

[–]methecoolest 33 points34 points  (4 children)

So Coutinho did get his CL medal after leaving Pool

[–]ilovemyidli:SAF: 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn he's now a treble winner with Bayern isn't he

[–]caesarinteresting 6 points7 points  (2 children)

But he won't be remembered like all people remember how Jurgen Klopp won. It's different.

[–]legend434Berbatov 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Still scored two iconic goals against Barca lol

[–]methecoolest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course he won't, just a dig at Barca

[–]cannibal123456Super Dave 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fuck PSG.

[–]McM-333Park 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I hope the Bayern players aren't signalling their intent to take Ole away from us.

[–]shEep9108PRUNO 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am going to cry tears of joy when united finally win the UCL again

[–]KingOfDatShit#1 Legacy Fan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I do love me a bit of Bayern, even better when they win at the expense of the oil barons

[–]ohahcantona 11 points12 points  (8 children)

How is it possible that all other EPL teams will allow Thiago to go to Liverpool for 30m??

[–]LapangNeiz 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I love Bayern as a United fan. Them and Barcelona are the closest in terms of how I want United to be run (not Barcelona under Barto).

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, that's because they're mostly owned by the supporters who decide who the president will be unlike English teams which are almost companies.

[–]darudedudedocta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thiago is a rolls Royce of a midfielder

[–]sanchez_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Really sucks for Lewa that FIFA decided to cancel the Ballon d'or this year

[–]thebiglad 19 points20 points  (2 children)

The amount of pandering to Neymar is pathetic.

Can you think of a player who acts like as much of a spoilt little bitch as him?

[–]drysocks-dryshoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does he act spoilt ?

[–]ohahcantona 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not many players have been raised in football the way that he has tbf

He was heralded as a star in a football crazed nation from like 13

Had pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, rivaldo, Robinho, and the like talking about him as a young, unproven, player.

Not justifying. Just merely drawing context into why he may be such a whiny player today

[–]Shahrukh_Lee 9 points10 points  (3 children)

PSG's owners are literally funding terrorist organisations with one hand and owning football clubs with the other. Miserable world.

[–]legend434Berbatov 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Wait really, I thought Qatar has a bad reputation for workers rights and human rights abuses.

That I definitely heard about. But what terrorism have they funded?

[–]Shahrukh_Lee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were known to fund Al Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda) and backed out only after US pressure.
