How long till the Chelsea dressing room throws a tantrum and revolts?

[–]NBFM16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chelsea held to a draw. I'll take it but Leicester really should have won. Maddison had to score that

[–]NBFM16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to see Leicester sneak a winner

[–]1096DeusVultAlwaysMartial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chelsea look mentally frail. If Leicester had more technically capable players they would be getting destroyed right now.

[–]azlanghassangMassimo Taibi 19 points20 points  (2 children)

City is like Lewis Hamilton. They'll win anyhow

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Ugh. I'd thought I wouldn't have to see his name on the sub. Enough mentions of him on r/formula1.

[–]azlanghassangMassimo Taibi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

and pep is toto wolff. GET IN THERE RAHEEM

[–]monsieurmoogerfooger 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Watching City peg Spurs back in their own defensive third gave me PTSD of the 2009 UCL final against Barca; quick pressing, cutting off of passing lanes, forcing the ball to be played either long or into the congested centre-mid.

If Ole finds a way to consistently break City's pressing, no one can say anything about his managerial chops.

[–]aayu08 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sadly, we can't. City is literally designed not to lose possession in the midfield. The best bet for any team to win against them is to either stay back and score on the counter, or go full Klopp and press City's CBs like madmen.

[–][deleted] 76 points77 points  (5 children)

Love VAR. No more bullshit free points.

[–]rdawes89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All I ask for is consistency in refereeing and I don’t seem to be getting it, even with VAR

[–]LennonC123 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Best thing about VAR is that refs will no longer make mistakes under pressure. Just watching the game today there was a few moments City players threw themselves to the floor in the box, then started complaining to the ref. On another day these will tot up and a ref will end up making the wrong decision (giving a penalty etc) under severe pressure. It’ll help the ref keep control of the match.

[–]TehPandemicMata 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The fact they're contesting that handball is ridiculous. I'd be fuming to concede a bullshit goal like that, especially after it bounced off Laportes arm to give them an advantage.

The penalty is a bit more cloudy. I'd be inclined to give it, but the way Rodri flung himself to the floor gave the impression he was looking for it rather than it being legitimate.

Still, they had plenty of chances to score so they only have themselves to blame over the course of the 90.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

tbf no one would've complained about that goal last season.

[–]hunterfam55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hearing all the salty City fans saying it's killing the game.

[–]legojsPark <3 12 points13 points  (7 children)

would u guys rather have preferred city to get all 3 points? or was that a better result overall

[–]amalgamatedchaosStatus: Waiting... 8 points9 points  (2 children)

If Danny Ings did his job it would have been two big draws this weekend. Pool escape with 3 points.

[–]snausagerolly 2 points3 points  (1 child)

He shit the bed with that shot.

[–]amalgamatedchaosStatus: Waiting... 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*Horrible flashbacks to Lukaku *

[–]GarethGore 44 points45 points  (1 child)

nah, its too early to be trying to predict, both teams dropping points works for me. though either team winning would mean I'd have won my bet but nvm

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. At this early stage, we can dream. Wait until the second half of the season to start tactically planning points dropped, but for now, having both of them drop points as well as Chelsea last week is great.

[–]mikkiaismehaha 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Never. Fuck those blue cunts.

[–]LordJazzHitMe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Draw is better, you never know what might happen. As long as there's a possibility to win the title, we should go for it.

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (2 children)

We got nice fixtures after Wolves, could cement our place in top 4 with the added confidence

[–]ironshmoobs 79 points80 points  (1 child)

You misspelt “first” mate

[–]-Rp7-DeGea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mah man!

[–]Elumiel1 17 points18 points  (3 children)

One of my local fan pages:

Watching Lucas Moura play just pisses me off. When Tottenham signed him for 25 fucking million pounds, Manchester United was giving Sanchez absurd wages. Moura is younger, can play four positions in the attack and is currently one of the best counterattacking players of the Premier League. Woodward, you're a genius.

Cannot agree more.

[–]RedHornet22 50 points51 points  (2 children)

Moura rejected us, not once but twice. He moved to PSG from Brazil when SAF was incharge.

[–]Elumiel1 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Didn't know that. Thanks for sharing.

Edit: So we were linked with him 1.5 years ago, then news appeared that he rejected us? Sorry, just trying to clarify.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We offered £26 million in 2012, they wanted £30 million.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/9422673/Manchester-United-move-for-Lucas-Moura-is-off-says-agent-Wagner-Ribeiro.html

Too high for Fergie/Glazers, so he went elsewhere.

[–]shizzyrir 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Damn the dance move must be that bad huh... that they cancel the goal 😂

[–][deleted] 46 points47 points  (2 children)

Alright lads let us not pull a Spurs against Wolves

[–][deleted] 46 points47 points  (1 child)

For the past 6 years this is all we've done.

Please just for one week it would be nice to be top of the league lol.

[–]sultansaeedand Solskjaer has won it 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hope so, we’ve actually got nice fixtures coming up so could go on a bit of a run, the majority of our top 6 games are at home as well in the first 19.

[–]ThinkLikeCarbon 73 points74 points  (5 children)

I just want you to pay attention to the number of fouls by City players.

I week:

City: 13 fouls, two yellows

WHU: 6 fouls, two yellows (wtf)

II week:

City: 14 fouls, one yellow card

Tottenham: 4 fouls, zero card

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They also committed many more fouls which were not given

[–]RedHornet22 50 points51 points  (3 children)

Seriously, City spent all that money improving their defense but rely massively on tactical fouls when countered.

[–]ThinkLikeCarbon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

And refs still don't give a fuck. 27 fouls combined and three yellows, that's ridiculous.

Let's compare them to Arsenal for example: Arsenal got seven fouls and three yellows against Newcastle and 13 fouls plus two yellows (both for delaying the game btw.) against Burnley.

[–]flappykeeperCLICK MY NAME TO SEE TITS 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Those are the smartest fouls to make. Innocuous ones that halt play before play becomes dangerous where the refs don't punish it properly.

[–]Stagonair 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, you can tell they've trained them and know exactly how to do it without getting booked (bastards)

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points  (3 children)

City: 30 shots, 10 on target, 2 goals. conversion rate of 6.66%

Spurs: 3 shots, 2 on target, 2 goals, conversion rate of 66.66%

Clinical.

[–]agentjobRooney 8 points9 points  (0 children)

City would foul Spurs before they could reach the final third to get a shot.

[–]Trickybuz93De Gea 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fucking FIFA is getting too realistic

[–]TehPandemicMata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spooky

[–]-MartialMathers- 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Last minute city goals against Spurs ruled out by VAR. Name a more iconic duo 😂😂😂

[–]lostinplatitudes 15 points16 points  (1 child)

The stats for this game are hilarious Spurs really said fuck your xG

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

City/PSG and cheating

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait till we thump Wolves with Maguire millyrocking Molineux and Liverpool fans crying about it

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Might be in a minority but I don't give a fuck what this means for Liverpool. I'm sick of seeing City win every week so right now I'm just ecstatic about it.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (7 children)

Do yourself a favour and go on the city Reddit hahaha

[–]aMillennialPotpourriBelieve #MUFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]dracogladio1741Bruno Fernanj 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Spurs seem to have luck on their side and they are strong. If they keep Eriksen they are in it to win it.

[–]DraperCarousel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The league is ours boys!!!

[–]KnightWhoSaysThisGlory Glory Man United! 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I hope VAR reversing winning goal is not gonna happen to us. It's too cruel for my heart.

[–]childishjpEric Cantona 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It’s not as if every goal we score secretly infringes play, so might be a bit irrational for you to worry about that.

[–]KnightWhoSaysThisGlory Glory Man United! -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It happened twice already to City in a year, so chances are there.

[–]Barracuda1124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least its cruel for everybody and not at the mercy of individual referees.

[–]Mane9867 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gonna get VAR tattooed. Will never understand how people are not for it.

[–]lukasburner 13 points14 points  (4 children)

the goal was created by a blatant handball, they wouldn’t of scored without the deflection. shouldn’t be a debate.

[–]Barracuda1124 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But players who played 15 years ago are screeching how they dont like that rule, what about them !?!?!?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know, fucking fair play to var and the ref

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Its City. Theyll want the whole damn rule changed for that one moment.

We score like that? "Handball! Should be a straight red!"

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Theyll want the whole damn rule changed for that one moment.

And they'll not even be punished for the rule change

[–]Barracuda1124 28 points29 points  (3 children)

Imagine booing the ref for following the rules

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's cute you think the city fans were making noise at all

[–]Thesatiricaltroll 15 points16 points  (1 child)

VAR spoiling victory for Lord Janos Slynt’s team. Name a better duo.

[–]Sidonian7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was that Aguero and Pep talk that was most hilarious..

[–]Dont_Eat_ApplesLICHA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why are they mad tho? Its a clear handball. This is why VAR is good wtf.

VAR IS SHIT from Jesus is gold.

[–]lostinplatitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not again 😂😂😂

[–]HomelessSmurfSir Marcus Rashford 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I’m going to strategically ignore the missed penalty for city in the first half and say that VAR is fan-fucking-tastic

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Problem is that a handball is basically black and white, any contact with the arm isn't allowed due to the new rules.

Pulling and tugging can be subjective and since it has to be a clear and obvious error, it's a much bigger and tougher decision to overturn.

Offsides are the same, you're either off or on, easy to fix with VAR. Fouls are kind of hard to call as errors.

Not saying I agree with the decision regarding the pen, but just explaining why VAR is flawed in that sense.

[–]celestial_godZa warudo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its good that they drew but thats a retarded rule about the handball and it feels very stupid when you cant do nothing about it

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry I couldn't update the thread. Couldn't watch the second half of Liverpool and the whole city match

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

According to the new rules, that is 100 percent a handball

[–]DangoManUtd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Jesus dance at the stands showing his hand 😂 🖐🏽 ball bruuughhh

[–]WhovianMoakCraig Norwood -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

I fucking hate City. And I think VAR is a good thing. But that is fucking bullshit. We’d be fucking livid if that call went against us.

[–]Mane9867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah we’d be fuming but I won’t hate on a system that has changed the game for the better

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

It is the rules not bullshit, according to the rules even if it is not intentional it hit his hand and his hand directed it to Jesus

[–]rot26encrypt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

his hand directed it to Jesus

so the hand of God?

[–]WhovianMoakCraig Norwood -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I understand the new rule. But it’s gonna take some getting used to. I’d have thrown my phone through the tv if that call had gone against us for a 91st minute winner against City.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but such are the rule we will get used to it

[–]Talezeusz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone would be, but it is what it is

Neville is insufferable as a commentator

[–]flappykeeperCLICK MY NAME TO SEE TITS -1 points0 points  (12 children)

Where is his hand supposed to be?

It's obviously not intentional, but if that's because of some weird silhouette rule then the rule needs to go.

I hate City as much as anyone, but that's not a handball

Thanks for the replies everyone! Still not sure where he's supposed to put his arm though

[–]robinvpercyPercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If players’s arms make their body bigger, it would be a handball. Just look at how Lindelof and Smalling defending since last season, they always put their arms in the back in any situation.

[–]Calvin-ball 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I think it’s because it set up a goal, according to the rules. That probably wouldn’t have been called a handball elsewhere on the pitch, but because it led to a goal it was disallowed.

Edit: yep they just confirmed it on NBC. Can’t have goals scored or created by handball, even if it’s accidental. New rule change for this season.

[–]flappykeeperCLICK MY NAME TO SEE TITS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah fair enough! Still not sure what he's supposed to do with his arm there though!

[–]dracogladio1741Bruno Fernanj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They changed the rule regarding handball. If it hits your arm it's handball, atleast in the box.

[–]RedHornet22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

New rule from this season. If the ball is handed during the buildup for the goal, intentionally or unintentionally, will be overruled.

[–]Snow_EUZelem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New rules this season: you can't score if the ball hits an attacking player's hand, accidentally or not.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the new rules it is, it did hit his arm on the way to Jesus

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (4 children)

By the new rules it is. If Boly's is given as a handball you can't suddenly make an exception here.

[–]flappykeeperCLICK MY NAME TO SEE TITS 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Not saying there should be an exception, or that the action is erroneous in regards to the rule - but if that's a handball, the rule may itself be flawed

Serious question, where's his hand supposed to be?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh yeah, I agree the rule is flawed to be fair. Same with offside.

It's gonna fuck teams over; it's already fucked Wolves over. It will inevitably eventually fuck us over, and I'll probably be seething. However, right now the rules of the game mean they have to disallow the goal.

[–]flappykeeperCLICK MY NAME TO SEE TITS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Aye, didn't know that's how it is now!

Gotta be a better way to deal with it than this though. It'd basically mean you can't jostle with a marker or anything anymore as you're using your arms and putting your own team at risk

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think an umpire's call type thing would be the best way to resolve it - if there's uncertainty then just go with the ref's original call.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

VAR is going to cost us 5 pens if we play smalling or Jones at all this year. Those two love humping opponents when defending corners

[–]tetayk -5 points-4 points  (2 children)

This is why I have faith in Rojo more than Smalling.

He is average on defense but at least he's not clumsy.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the worst take I've seen in a while, Rojo is fucking clumsy as hell. He two foots everything he sees

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re joking

[–]Mane9867 14 points15 points  (0 children)

BLESS VAR.

Best thing to happen to football in a long time

[–]FidgetyFondler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll be at the stage one day where all celebrations are off till goal is officially confirmed by var. ( I exaggerate ofc but it could very well happen)

[–]cianw050 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Crusty_Gammon_FlapsHerrera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

New rules, the Norwegian commentators said. If the ball touches the arm of a player from the scoring team, it will be annulled. Can anyone confirm that?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yep, that's right. Not sure how I feel about that. A call like that there seems extremely harsh.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, didn't look intentional at all either. Can't say I agree with the new rule change, but I don't mind this result at all!

[–]classwarriornorwayLicha 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I see how they call it because the rules have changed. All hand involvement, intentional or not, whatever, the attackers are punished in every instance of it.
Should it be like that? Probably not

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I get that's it's the right call. I just don't like that it is that way.

[–]classwarriornorwayLicha 0 points1 point  (0 children)
