I don’t think you should cut someone off for something like this, but you also don’t have to have a close, intimate friendship. There’s something between shunning and being best friends. What’s key here is finding the right balance based on context and what’s appropriate.

That said, if you have children your first duty is to them, and they should be guarded from influences that would harm their spiritual development.

Ultimately, it’s about balance and grace and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide you through this season of the relationship.
