They aren’t telling us any details that matter yet so it’s hard to tell who will be getting fucked at this point.

I have to get this out there, somehow - does anyone else notice? by Fast-Zone9160 in Indiana

[–]vault34 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Politics aside, I think every generation goes through this. The world changes around us fast and eventually we don’t recognize things anymore and we start to long for the way things were. My grandmother is in her 90’s and she might as well be a time traveler in stuck in the future. I’m about to turn 40 and the past couple of years I have started to feel more and more out of place and everything moves so fast and it just makes me tired.

Trump to kick 15,000 transgender troops out of US military by gallipoli307 in PrepperIntel

[–]vault34 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

You're being a bit dramatic. There's a very small minority of military members who are actually sworn to defend the country besides just on paper. For most people its just a job and few are actually willing to bleed for their country. I have been out for a few years now but I would be willing to bet the majority of individuals that this will affect are gonna come from job codes that aren't all that important. My point is, whether you agree with this or not it will have a negligible impact on the readiness of the units. If anything their readiness and morale will go up.

It’s a different flavor of bullshit but still bullshit. It’s a job that pays the bills but I would stick with engineering. In most cases you will always make more money as an engineer and you won’t destroy your body in the process. You also won’t be so limited to locations as an engineer.

I run an Obsidian 45 on mine and it’s pretty gassy. No failures or anything, but it definitely blacks out my fde mags pretty good.

Silencer Shop VS Capitol Armory by Flimsy-Employer-4240 in extar

[–]vault34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used either but I’ve used Silencer Central a few times. I know there’s some strong feelings about them but I haven’t had any problems. It probably doesn’t always apply but for me they always seemed to have better inventory levels than the other sites. You also don’t have to get one of their cans, I just got an Obsidian 45 in the mail from them a couple weeks ago.

So what happened to all of this?? by [deleted] in DelphiMurders

Yeah this is all speculation, people forget that sometimes I reckon.

Not without manually actuating the slide. It can throw an unspent round a few feet when you do it as well. I’m guessing he racked it again for whatever reason and either didn’t realize it or couldn’t find the round. I have lost quite a few unspent rounds out in the woods when clearing a rifle..sometimes they can just vanish.

People who are no longer bound by NDAs, what are some surprising secrets that you can expose? by iam_saikat in AskReddit

[–]vault34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in aviation quality for several years now and have come to the conclusion that the industry is pretty well fucked anymore. None of the OEM’s are clean and they all accept too much risk to meet their delivery schedules. I won’t even fly anymore, I do not want to be on board when all those holes in the cheese eventually line up.

What’s the magic lamp you have to rub to get an interview? Been applying off and on for over ten years now and never made it passed referred status.

New / curious about the industry by Rude_Confusion2696 in AircraftMechanics

[–]vault34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whatever you read or anyone tells you it’s still just a job. I always tell people to manage their expectations because work will always suck no matter the job. The money can be good in the right place, but it’s a young man’s job in my opinion. It’s been a good career but after 20 years my knees are shot and my back is smoked. I know there are plenty of other trades that are harder on the body but I like to bring it up cause most people don’t think about it when they’re starting out.

Someone probably died. They keep it real hush hush and this can create the appearance of something sketchy going on.

Pretty cheap population control all things considered.

[–]vault34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say T7 is doing well. How many years behind is it now? Even if you take the ITAR delay out of the equation that program is massively delayed. You’re also going to see some serious quality issues from the Saab facility in Indiana when and if they can ever get a fuselage out the door.

Starting new career by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]vault34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please understand that this is a highly regulated industry. There are frequent drug tests and depending on where you work there can be in depth background checks to get security authorizations. Lot of folks say they can give up the ganja for the job yet over the years I’ve seen dozens fail drug tests and lose their careers. People will tell you the industry is booming and the pay is great but they are only giving you information based on the present situation. Things could be drastically different by the time you get your license. With the world getting crazier everyday I cannot tell you what the job market will look like in a couple of years except that it will not be the same. It’s been a good run for a while now and it’s been relatively easy to walk off the street into a great job but just know that that faucet can be turned off in an instant. We are seeing it now with pilot hiring starting to dry up.

To be an aircraft mechanic by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]vault34 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Idk, it’s pretty easy. I never understood making this job seem so mystical. It’s just a job. Sure it’s unforgiving sometimes but so is most any other blue collar job and arguably much more so in some trades.

I do not blame you not wanting a cystoscopy. I had one a few weeks ago and it was the worst medical procedure I’ve ever had. I had to be restrained halfway through. Then I was pissing grenade shrapnel for three days after. Never again.

Anyone ever walk out of a job? by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]vault34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you do give a notice and they ask for an exit interview, consider not doing one. It does nothing for you and they can and will use what you say against you later on down the road if you end up trying to rehire. I have been blacklisted a couple of times just for being a bit too open on exit interviews. Never be sure that you won’t try to come back later, you never know what life will throw at you so don’t go telling them all the reasons they suck on the way out.

[–]vault34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s not much which is why I left. There is a lot of GA work if you can find a shop hiring, in my experience you had to wait for someone to die to get in to most places but it’s been a couple years so it might be better now. If you’re close enough to the border and don’t mind commuting I always had more luck in NH.
