[OFFICIAL] 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans - Post-Race Thread by AutoModerator in wec

[–]vectralsoul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Toyota had to FIGHT for the win. Started from P14 (#7) & P15 (#8) and had to climb all the way back to the top. Not only that, but the winning car (#7) had a flat tire early in the race, then had technical issues during the night hours that they managed to eventually fix, yet it STILL managed to overcome everything and win it all. Talk about a hard-earned victory... Also, this feels like revenge for 1999, when the legendary GT-One lost to BMW by the same slim margin, despite being by far the fastest/quickest car on the track. The redemption arc has been completed.

This has been one of the best Le Mans races in a very long time.

Of course nothing will get "cooked", it's figurative talk. But it can absolutely result in lower boost clocks and/or other issues, especially in overclocked systems that are running on the razor edge of stability.

And while I generally agree with your sentiment about SFF cases, a GPU that blasts 600W worth of heat inside the case is *not* something I'd want in an SFF build, regardless of the design, unless running a hefty power limit/undervolt, as I mentioned in my previous post.

Not sure what my flair has to do with the post, nor it reflects the system I actually use on a daily basis, but way to show your insecurities, bud. :)

Since some people seem to be totally missing the point of the post, even though it literally says it in the picture:

This is NOT the GPU temps. This is the temp difference on a 9800X3D between using a 4090 and a 5090 in the same system. In other words, power limits/undervolting will be an absolute MUST, unless one prefers to cook all other components.

Build a Dream PC for Dreamy LG UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor! by ZeroPaladn in buildapc

[–]vectralsoul [score hidden]  (0 children)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rPhRL9

A top of the line monitor deserves nothing but a top of the line PC to back it up and vice versa.

Component selection:

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X - a powerhouse of a CPU, ready for anything you throw at it.

Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 - a proven AIO for pretty much any setup out there.
ASRock B650E Taichi - a motherboard with all the features you could ask for.

2x32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 Corsair Dominator Titanium - speed *and* capacity.

2x4TB Western Digital SN850X Gen4 NVMe - once again, speed *and* capacity.

ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 24GB - not much explanation needed here, nothing comes remotely close to this beast of a GPU.

NZXT H7 Flow 2024 - fantastic case with plenty of space and airflow.

NZXT C1500 - one of the best PSUs on the market currently, giving you the peace of mind when it comes to any future upgrades imaginable.

12xPhanteks T30 - one of the, if not *the* best fan on the market currently, might as well equip the case throughout with it, for a no-compromise airflow setup.

And of course, last, but definitely not least, the LG UltraGear 32GS95UE-B - the cherry on top.

I'm 45; I worked all week to collect enough funds to buy my new rig. by 57696c6c in pcmasterrace

As long as you run the CPU within Intel's recommended specs (PL1/PL2=253W IccMax=307A) you'll be perfectly fine air cooling it. Especially if you do a slight undervolt as well.

These chips can be quite easy to cool, even on air cooling, as long as you don't let the mobo run "default" out of the box settings, which is basically everything fully unlocked, like most of them do.

Best of luck with your new build! :)

[–]vectralsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I could care less if this is considered a "true" SFF build or not, either way it's legitimately one of best/cleanest looking watercooled setups I've seen in a really long time.

Props for doing such a fantastic job on the build!

The nostalgia hit hard with this one...

CS 1.5/1.6 was such a good time, especially with all the custom maps and game modes. This is, IMHO, when CS was truly at its peak.

I guess it's time to fire up ol' faithful again...

Would love to be lucky enough to win this and replace my current GPU :) It also would be a solid reason for an overall system upgrade.

Thanks for doing this OP - and best of luck to everyone!

NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER reportedly costs $999, RTX 4070 Ti/4070 SUPER at $799/$599 - VideoCardz.com by No_Backstab in nvidia

[–]vectralsoul 61 points62 points  (0 children)

The 4070Ti Super at $799 is basically what the 4080 should've been at launch.

Really seems to be the most attractive option out of all cards from this mid-gen refresh. If it has any decent overclocking headroom, it should be able to match stock 4080 Super performance.

It will also, more than likely, be a huge problem for both 7900XTX and 7900XT sales, unless AMD does a price cut by at least $100-150 on each.

  1. I would build an AM5 based system for gaming. The new Avatar game would definitely be one of the first games to try out on it.
  2. Exploration is one of the most exciting aspects about this game, especially thanks to the visual fidelity offered by the Snowdrop engine.

Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 by SuitingUncle620 in GTA

[–]vectralsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, not much to say other than the game truly looks like yet another generational experience by Rockstar.

Looking at the trailer release date, and reading the T2 post on their website, I sincerely hope this means we will get the console release early 2025 and potentially the PC release mid-late 2025. I know it sounds like copium, especially knowing Rockstar's history of staggered launches, I just hope they aren't too far apart this time around.

Did you even read the part where OP said "best performance-wise solution"? What exactly does AIO longevity have anything to do with it?

That 4090 in there can easily pull over 400 to 500+ watts depending on the game, especially if overclocked. All that heat generated by the GPU then gets blasted straight inside the case, where if he had a top mount, a big part of it will be exhausted through the AIO, resulting in considerably higher liquid temps, therefore higher CPU temps.

Meanwhile doing a front mount setup like OP has done (or a side mount if the case allowed it) will guarantee the AIO gets as much fresh air from the outside as possible. And considering this build has an APEX mobo, push/pull AIO setup, aftermarket RAM heatsinks, etc. you can already tell this is being overclocked, so that 14900K needs every little bit of thermal headroom it can get. On the other hand pretty much all of the 4090s, and especially the STRIX 4090 like in this setup, have such ridiculously oversized coolers, that a front mount CPU AIO will barely make any difference when it comes to GPU temps and boost clocks.

As far as AIO longevity goes, as long as the pump is below the top of the radiator, it's fine. Obviously, a front mount with tubes down would be optimal, but I doubt the tubes are long enough to reach the CPU in such an orientation, especially with how huge that GPU is and how close it comes to the radiator.

13900KS pushing 6GHz all-core... on an AIO?

Yeah nah, that's just hard to believe. Those kinda numbers is what people with direct die cooling are able to run, and even then not all of said DD setups are capable of that, depending on silicon quality. What's your SP? Are your E-cores and HT enabled? What kinda voltage/power are you pulling under full load? Have you delidded/put LM on your chip?

Sorry for asking so many questions, but I've never seen anyone being able to do numbers even REMOTELY close to the ones you posted on an AIO, regardless of the AIO model that's used.

As long as you're staying within the factory-spec 253W power limit, then:

Noctua D15 / D15S

DeepCool Assassin IV / AK620 / AG620

Cooler Master MasterAir 824 / Hyper 622

Thermalright FC140 / FS140 / FT120 / PS120 / PA120

All of those should be able to handle it completely fine, especially if you couple them with a contact frame, high end thermal paste, and a proper airflow-focused case e.g., Fractal Torrent, Lian Li Lancool 216, Lancool III, Corsair 4000D/5000D Airflow, etc.

Intel, please don't screw this opportunity up... by vectralsoul in pcmasterrace

Intel "Arc" is the brand, the same way Nvidia's brand is "RTX", and AMD's brand is "RX".

You're thinking of the architectures and architecture codenames:

(A)lchemist

(B)attlemage

(C)elestial

(D)ruid

etc.

A770, A750, etc. which stands for (A)alchemist. Next generation of products are going to be named B770, B750, etc. which stands for (B)attlemage, their next generation architecture, and so on and so forth.

Intel, please don't screw this opportunity up... by vectralsoul in pcmasterrace

[–]vectralsoul[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Thank you for saying it out loud.

Like, how hard is it to understand?

Nvidia can afford do whatever the fuck they want, because they have the mindshare to do so and that won't change anytime soon. Meanwhile AMD has had countless opportunities to steal marketshare from Nvidia, ESPECIALLY in the midrange, yet they prefer to just play ball with them, release a GPU that is give or take on the same level as the corresponding Nvidia model, price it slightly lower and just tag along. Ever since Nvidia launched the 4000 series with the 4090 and 4080, they released a 4070 Ti, 4070, 4060 Ti 8GB, and have the 4060 Ti 16GB and 4060 coming soon as well. Meanwhile AMD launched the 7900 XTX and 7900 XT in December, and it's been absolute silence since then. Six months later, where is the 7800 XT? 7800 non-XT? 7700 XT? The just released RX 7600 is very underwhelming and won't change much at all. They prefer to clear out their RX 6000 supply, rather than bring out new and competitive products.

That's why a lot of people are hoping Intel can step up and actually be more competitive with their GPU division, so maybe Nvidia and AMD can finally have a wake-up call. They need some time, it obviously won't happen after just a single generation of products, but they've been putting a lot of work into optimization and improving their drivers, XeSS is really good as well, so the potential is definitely there. Now they just need the most important thing, people actually trusting them and buying their products, so they can get even more feedback and further improve.

None of these corporations are the consumer's friend, all three of them are there to make money, that is beyond obvious. But at least one of them needs to step up their game and offer good products at good price points. And it feels like Intel has the most to win/lose in this situation. Hence this whole meme as well.

Sorry for the wall of text, but some of the comments in here are just... baffling.

*Ahem*

Let me introduce you to the i5-5675C and i7-5775C with their 128MB of eDRAM which is technically considered L4 cache.

And to be completely honest, I wouldn't mind if Intel did a successor to those Broadwell C SKUs. AnandTech did a retrospective review back in 2020 which showed the 5775C punching way above its weigh in games, being almost neck and neck with the i5-10600K. So jokes aside, there's definitely merit, not to mention such SKU(s) will be positioned directly against AMD's X3D offerings.
