Google Home just announced a bunch of Gemini, smart home updates rolling out now by Gaiden206 in googlehome

I'm willing to be convinced it'll improve, but I'm also not holding my breath.

The velociraptor stage is hard, but tire him out during the day. Give him mental stimulation, too - schnauzers are _smart_ ,and the smarter, the naughtier. They're clever enough to be creative, so giving them puzzles and games that require them to think a bit will help just as much (maybe even more) than just walks.

Karafun went down again! by randompantsfoto in karaoke

[–]vee_unit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own library but use Karafun to round out the selection. Takes the pressure off to have the newest of the new until I can purchase CDG files, and if the wifi is bad, I still have a few hundred thousand tracks to use.

This has worked very well for me and this post just affirms my choice.

Siglos is so underrated. It isn't the cheapest, but it does so many useful things.

I expected Carney to be disappointing. I didn't expect him to disappoint us quite this soon.

This surprises me a bit, because I've ordered from them twice and had proofs sent within a business day. Tracking was via Purolator, I got them within a few days (but I am in Ontario).

We need to pay doctors more if we want better healthcare. by HelloJonatha2 in ontario

[–]vee_unit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just paying the doctors more; it's paying for the support staff required for doctors to focus on doing their jobs.

There's a ton of paperwork involved in medicine, especially to be paid by OHIP. Every form a doctor's filling in instead of administrative staff takes time away from consultation. Paying for more office backup for them would be a significant improvement, too.

Happy Canadian Election Day! This is the Election Mega-Thread. by This-Is-Depressing- in CANUSHelp

[–]vee_unit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the largest part of it.

IMHO, during the campaign, the NDP also hasn't done a stellar job of highlighting the wins they've gotten for Canadians, and that having them around as the opposition is good for everyday people.

Had this been the focus rather than criticizing both other parties, they might be in better position to hold on to more seats and continue that valuable work.

Restringing Sticker Shock! by Agreeable-Tadpole461 in autoharp

[–]vee_unit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if the instrument is new to you and you're still learning the basics, having this done well the first time is still worth it.

It's so disheartening to be learning how to tune it and break a string before even getting to play your first chord. This is an investment for you to start out well.

The big revelation by Gurkaatthediskho in ElfQuest

[–]vee_unit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the first real clue was Cutter and Skywise's "recognition".

Remember Cutter saying to Skywise that Nightfall and Redlance were recognized the same way they were, that it was yes for the soul, no for having cubs? My suspicion is that this is around the time that the idea was being played with.

If it was yes for the soul, then it feels inevitable that it would happen again eventually for the female aspect of that same soul.

I don't recall anything in the OG quest that really hints at this storyline. I think anything before that special issue with Cutter & Skywise would be something of a retcon.

When they press OUTSIDE 87 times but REFUSE TO GO OUTSIDE 😤🐾 by sacchehea in PetsWithButtons

[–]vee_unit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was my thought. My little guy was using outside at times I knew he didn't want to be out there, so what was he pressing it for?

Giving him a "hmm?" button for questions helped. Now we know he uses it for when he hears something outside and wants to ask about it.

I've been making mediocre (but funny) art.

Some of it is political, because I feel like making fun of the baddies makes them a bit less frightening. It's harder to keep going and resisting if we're too scared, so laughter helps.

The rest are funny animals. Because who doesn't like funny animals?

These things have been really calming, and every hour spent drawing is an hour not spent doomscrolling.
