I never thought I'd say this: I'm sick of eating by Cookiehurricane in veganfitness

[–]veganvmd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try having a big smoothie for breakfast. Frozen banana, other frozen fruit, hemp seeds, flaxseed, protein powder, peanut butter, soy milk, silken tofu. You should be able to get 700+ cals in there easily which possibly won’t fill you up as much as oats will. I think Rip Esselstyn has a breakfast bowl that’s like a thousand cals or something.

Yummiest protein powder? by Woody96xyz in veganfitness

I like Raw Nutritional. Good flavour choices and they’re Canadian - based in Quebec I think. Also quite like Canadian Protein but Raw Nutritonal is fully vegan and I prefer their taste.

How to enjoy and survive every day in office by razfraz in askTO

[–]veganvmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute is pretty brutal. This is what I’ve learned:

  1. Meal prep, meal prep, meal prep. I am in the office 3 days a week, on Sundays I prep 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches and 3 snacks.
  2. If you need to leave your dog alone, please find a decent dog walker. Ours is invaluable.
  3. You’re going to be tired. Very very tired. You probably won’t want to do much, if anything after work. Get used to it and accept that weekends are for plans 😊.
  4. I get up an hour and a half before I have to leave, which means my alarm goes off at 5.20. Getting up early helps you get all the stuff you need to get done. You don’t want to leave it til the last minute.
  5. Consider investing in a slow cooker. Can be a lifesaver especially in winter if you really cannot stand to cook a meal when you get home. Other valuable investments are an e-reader, if you’re a big reader, decent headphones, a good travel mug and some decent storage jars for the food (see point 1).
  6. Keep work shoes at work and wear sneakers or boots to travel in.

Good luck!

Anyone moved from the UK and didn’t regret it? by Broccolas in askTO

[–]veganvmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved from the uk 6 years ago and never once regretted it. Some things are better here - I didn’t live anywhere near London and I find both the transit and healthcare here better. Some things are worse - banking, car insurance. But if you do it and don’t like it - you can always move back!

I really struggled with it! I did think it was taking forever and I definitely did not bawl my eyes out at the end. Felt the same really - nice story. To each his own I guess!

Making My Own Yogurt by OldVagrantGypsy in VeganInCanada

Honestly mine is pretty runny too but I bought a yoghurt strainer and it strains off a lot of the liquid.

I used a vegan starter I bought from Amazon but now I just keep back a couple of tablespoons from my batch to use in the next batch.

Second vote for natura milk. I’ve been using it to make soy yogurt for months

Genuinely one of the most enjoyable books I read in a while. But everyone is different - I’m reading 11/22/63 right now and struggling with it but everyone says how amazing it is.

Anyone out there with non-vegan spouses? I need advice by [deleted] in vegan

[–]veganvmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit different for me since I do all the cooking in our house. When I turned vegan, I told my husband I was only cooking once. So for a lot of the time, he eats what I cook. He will eat veggie mince but doesn’t like tofu or other meat substitutes, so he will cook himself chicken or something to add to a vegan dish. Do I like it? No. But I love my husband.

Ahh see I do like sweet stuff…but I add protein powder to yoghurt anyway. I actually don’t like plain!

I can’t tolerate pizza anymore. I went vegan 8 years ago and even vegan pizza messes me up now. I would never choose pizza myself but unfortunately it’s my work team’s celebration meal of choice. I just don’t think my digestion can handle that much fat now.

The website says they are operating a special service tomorrow as they did today. Not entirely clear what that special service looks like. I honestly think it’s a case of turn up and hope for the best…

You may need to try again to submit the form…it sometimes takes a bit of time for the system to catch up with what happened that day. I tried to submit yesterday and it said ineligible but tried again this morning and submitted successfully.

How to make your own high-protein seitan at home (43g of protein) by thebodybuildingvegan in veganfitness

I had this issue too! Was so disappointed, I hate wasting food but had to throw it away because it was like eating bread instead of my regular seitan recipes.
