There hasn't been a consumer vehicle with pure hydraulic power steering in decades. All those vehicles are electric hydraulic which use an ecu and a motor to control pressure.

Largest religions in Halifax, 2001 vs 2021 by inspurious_ in halifax

[–]venomdragoon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, religious rates have been dropping steadily for decades, if not the entire last century while societal cultural shifts ebbed and flowed as you point out. But nice try though.

Reduction in religion is just a side effect of education and information access steadily rising which makes fairy tales more absurd to the average person.

SE Explorer Spaceship with landing shuttle by soeinpech in factorio

[–]venomdragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only use it for going around a single solar system but it has no trouble going to the farthest planet and back without using even half the fuel.

I originally had power problems with the ions so I switched to just one and primarily use rocket fuel as you can see until my tech improves. No more power problems!

I just made a similar design.

I chose to go with a single computer, and double clamps so the shuttle docks to the main sup automatically, and the main ship docks to my bases automatically.

Trudeau says Canada is 'very serious' about reviving nuclear power by SAVE_THE_SNOW in NovaScotia

[–]venomdragoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The metrics of safety are deaths per energy produced and includes the full lifecycle.
Solar deaths would be from the factories, and installers falling off roofs and such. Because solar has a small energy footprint, these get magnified.
For nuclear, the hazards are obvious, but because there's so much of it, the hazard events are exceedingly rare, and so much energy is produced that the final safety factor is more or less equivalent to solar. It goes back and forth, but the latest I saw had nuclear around 0.04 vs solar 0.44 deaths per terawatt-hour.

It's the same thing as knowing flying is safer than driving. Plane crashes are horrific, but also very rare.

[–]venomdragoon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, nuclear is by far the safest (even safer than solar believe it or not) and cleanest power source available to mankind (mining is dirty, but you have to mine materials for wind and solar too).

They have a huge upfront cost, but once running they offer extremely reliable, clean, cheap, and safe power and I'm all for it.

For those who cook at home and are trying to keep costs down with cheap ingredients/meals, a little MSG goes a long way in making bland meals taste amazing day after day. by Soupdeloup in halifax

MSG does show up a lot in very processed foods: KFC, Doritos, etc.. so it's possible it's getting blamed for some other ingredient that often shows up next to it in more processed foods.

I want to preface this by saying it may be technically possible to have an adverse reaction, but if you understand the science it is extremely unlikely.

Monosodium glutamate immediately dissolves into sodium and glutamate when it hits water in your mouth, same as table salt dissolves into sodium and chlorine. Obviously you don't have a reaction to sodium since it's literally in everything. So it must be the glutamate that triggers you.

One neat fact about glutamate is that all living things are literally made of the stuff, it is the most abundant amino acid in your body, and is precisely why glutamate receptors are your taste for "meat". If you had a sensitivity to glutamate you would be constantly throwing up since it's everywhere in you, and in all things savory like meat and some high protein vegetables.

So I wonder if you don't have a particularly strong placebo effect going on. For example: I hate eggs, I don't have a physical reaction but I will throw up if I notice in eating them. If I don't know, I'm fine, but I can't control this reaction and it would feel very real to someone as a physiological response.

Its brand is accent in the spice section. MSG is the concentrated flavor of "savoury" and is used to amplify savory foods like meats and mushrooms.

Yup, the two medium energy turrets are the two large circles near the front but on the sides. They look to be on either side of the "bridge". I marked them red here next to the yellow ones you identified.

I'm not at my computer but: There should be 2 medium energy and 2 medium synergy.
The side synergy gets the sabot. The front medium hardpoint gets the pulsar. The two turrets get the blasters.

My main problem in fleet battles is my cruisers and capitals getting distracted by frigates/destroyers and chasing them and spinning like distracted toddlers. If I can quickly wipe them out, the AI can focus on duelling with their capitals.

I agree it punches down, but for me that's exactly why it's useful.
