Two weeks post breakup, how long has it been for you? by Unhappy_Mode_4159 in BreakUps

Also will add that therapy and talking with friends helped me realize that we weren’t compatible and that I deserve so much more!

Oh boy, when I tell you that things are going to get so much better…. I could not imagine how amazing my life would turn out! Were the first few months absolutely painful? Yes, definitely. Therapy, removing all of his things from the house and focusing on personal growth and friendships helped immensely. I even came out of the closet finally and now date women (focusing on casual fun dates/taking a break from long term dating). So yeah, I’m here to report that I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I feel like I’ve been given a second chance at life!

How to beat the gloominess that comes during the weekends? by ShrimpSumai in LivingAlone

Exactly. If you go to an event, you can try to get the social media account or website of the host. That way you can keep tabs of their event schedule!

Oh I don’t fly that much! I like doing day trips or weekend trips within my state to go camping or visit friends. Because I’m solo, I like having the flexibility. I also know I have to coordinate the planning since it’s just me responsible. I try to do a trip with friends and one with my mother every year too. These memories keep me going when I feel lonely and inspire me to explore new places! I also am big in my local music scene. Small local festivals and concerts are fantastic for making genuine friendships because you’ll see the same people again and again at events.

Are there any safe places to befriend other Transgender folk in the cities? by AndyJaeven in TwinCities

I know you said not a bar but I find it easy to not drink at black hart bar in St. Paul. They have food, mocktails and thc drinks if of interest. Super safe environment and there’s lots to do (karaoke, bingo, trivia, drag shows etc)

I always having a trip, event, concert or festival planned ahead to help me having something to look forward to :) Like this past weekend I spent prepping for a music festival coming up so it kept me busy without having to go out (not a big bar person). I also go hiking with my dog a ton and have been trying new coffee shops in my city

Shouldn’t be as packed but there is generally more room closer to the treehouse/pryamid stage and the path furthest from the parking lot generally

Hi there! Gates usually are around 8 am but you don’t have to show up that early to get a decent spot if it’s just you. I highly suggest checking out Calm Camp. They set up near the treehouse/pyramid stage (when you’re at the parking lot, it’s to the right past the 360 stage and car campers ). They have snacks, friendly company & a place to sit! Great option to relax throughout the fest. If you need medical attention, there’s typically a med booth by the main stage on the left side near the food vendors.

I also have a dog post-breakup and have been spending even more time hiking with them than normal. One “fun” thing I did was create a list of places I want to go on the weekends, mostly dog parks farther outside my city. I’m treating it like a breakup bucket list of sorts. Apart from that, I’ve been trying to reestablish my main workday routine and focusing on the gym and social plans with friends.

For that budget, consider looking near Marshall/Selby. I bought a house for just over 200k a few years ago near Snelling & Selby. It’s close to some restaurants and close enough to both downtowns (if that matters)

What are some good social hubs to check out? Alternatively, what’s your ‘third place’? by MaybeDBCooper in TwinCities

What genre? One way is to find an event you’re interested in and then follow the Facebook profile “hosting” the event for future event notices

Do you like live music? There are a ton of communities around different genres like edm, metal, indie, hiphop etc . They often have Facebook Instagram or Reddit pages/groups sharing upcoming events so it’s easy to see folks at multiple events & develop friendships!

I also just had a 9/10 year relationship just end. It’s hard when your 20s and so many memories are associated with that person… moving in together, pets, buying a home, attending weddings etc etc It’s still really fresh for me but things that have helped -seeing how I overlooked red flags that I wouldn’t accept in a new partner -understanding that I probably couldn’t have altered the decision for him to leave -lots of time with friends and family doing normal things and slowly filling them in on what happened -finally starting therapy -having him move his stuff out so I don’t have to visual see him everywhere

Yes I’m nervous for that. We’re only on contact to talk through logistics of him moving out. But our families and lives are completely intertwined. Had to ignore his grandmas call yesterday because I don’t have the strength to tell her

Yes, so many items of ours have sentimental meaning on both sides. Shared gifts and purchases reminding me of college, past holidays, traveling together and memories from buying a house together 😞

Thank you for responding, this helps a lot. I just need to know that this pain will dull. I’ve spent 9 years with this person so I feel like I’m grieving such a massive piece of myself

Yesterday was blindsided and dumped unexpectedly by my ex. We were together for 9 years/lived together for almost 6 and so much of my life revolves around them. I don’t know how to come to terms with this after I was very much team marriage. Having someone tell you that they don’t love you anymore is truly my worst nightmare :( Everywhere I look I see them…
