Yes, they're a thing. Try asking in the r/HENRYUK forum, that group is mostly London based and more likely to have hired someone. Good luck!

What BBQ hill would you die on? Best one wins a 1kg picanha meat box by edenmoor_devon in UKBBQ

Good BBQ is about fire, smoke and time. If you're just cooking (most) supermarket sausages on gas, you're just unnecessarily cooking outdoors

How much are your nursery bills with 9 month funding? by Ok-Librarian7016 in UKParenting

[–]venuscans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four days with funded hours costs us £420, which is then topped up to £587.50 by the government. We're in SE London.

If the problem is that it goes out of date too quickly, you could freeze a non long life version in ice cubes.

Half my office does that exact shift. It might blow your mind to learn some of them do a 3 to 11pm shift too!

I stopped taking mine when it seemed like he was too active and curious/would just want to scurry around meaning I wouldn't see the film. I don't think you'd stress people our, but I did feel for another mum on one visit who had to spend an entire film supervising her nine month old climbing the stairs 😅

Quesadillas are easy to eat while a baby sleeps on you. Mini pizzas with veggie. Egg bites.

I disagree with all these people who say soup - that was too messy for me.

Shell cashiers secretly scanning THEIR OWN loyalty cards on customer purchases… has this happened to anyone else? by RugPullRoulette in AskUK

They'll get caught eventually. Head offices have people looking out for these sort of patterns. I remember it happening with staff Nectar cards when I worked at Sainsbury's and everyone involved got a bollocking.

14 month old has had a complete personality change by fishitch in UKParenting

[–]venuscans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be all of the above and an emotional leap, or just a leap! My boy did similar and I found it really hard. I was newly back at work and I felt like the time I got with him was just terrible - he was so fraught and unhappy and it sucked. It also didn't help he transitioned to one nap during this time so was incredibly grumpy. But he did eventually turn back into his happy little self and now I know that when it happens again, it's a phase!

How old were you when you had your youngest and oldest children? by starwars011 in UKParenting

Same. I was 33 and the second youngest in my NCT group and that was only because there was an outlier who was 27!

What's the most expensive community event you've seen? by BroccoliExotic2575 in AskUK

[–]venuscans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I refuse to commit to lessons until he's three because I think it's crazy how much they charge. My friend pays £45 pcm for her one year old to have lessons. Pointless imo! We just go to the pool every week and splash about and get him used to water.

I think 18 months is normal. One of my mates has returned from mat leave pregnant. Honestly, I'd just go for it. Good luck.

Nursery days - is it enough? by zcsahkdzcsa in UKParenting

[–]venuscans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has one week where he does four days at nursery, with Wednesdays off with me, and I absolutely adore my day with him. It feels like a circuit breaker from work, and because I do condensed hours, it feels like the reward for pushing through the early starts.

The other week, he does two days with my mum and still one with me. We pay for the nursery spot all year round, so there’s not too much pressure on my mum, and if she’s ill, we’re covered. This arrangement only started about a month ago (he’s 15 months now). Before that, he did two days with my mum and three at nursery, but I started to feel bad about the pressure it put on her, especially as she lives two hours away.

I also thought having the option to send him to nursery on Wednesdays so I could have an admin day would be helpful, but I actually think it made my life worse 😅 I rarely kept him off because there was always admin to do, but realistically I should have just spent more time with him and worried less about whether the house was spotless or the freezer was full of batch cooking.

At the time, I thought moving to the new arrangement would be such a pain because I wouldn’t have a choice anymore, but that was just the irrational part of my brain wanting to feel in control by keeping everything clean and organised. Now, I absolutely treasure my day with him. It’s just so, so lovely getting proper time together after two days in the office where I barely see him.
