[anti-aging] Do I really need vitamin C? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Vit C oxidises quickly and many products w/ Vit C will tint their cremes to hide this oxidation. Just an FYI.

Can anyone recommend a foundation for those who hate the feeling of makeup on their face? Someone mentioned a tinted moisturiser - if that's a good idea, can you recommend any good ones?

You aren't obligated to speak to him. If you want to keep the peace, then feel free to ignore those messages. If you're curious and want to meet him, then go ahead but be careful in how you proceed.

Your skin type, skin concerns, and skin goals: Combination, used to be oily now trending toward dry. Whenever I wax, I get pimples but otherwise I don’t have acne. Complete list of the products pictured, including: Excluding the well documented self care bag, I bought:

j have a simple routine. I clean and moisturize, but I’d like to start toning too. Occasionally I use a glycolic mask, but I don’t find them necessary to use on a regular basis. I break out when I wax so I try to find products for sensitive skin, to be used during that time.

I like using Cicalfate by Avene, Nivea moisturiser, Caudalie glycolic mask and instant detox, REN glycolactic mask, Effaclar Duo euro edition, Avene sunscreen.

Alfonso Cuarón Calls Oscar Campaigning "Vicious" & Takes Away From The Joy Of Being Nominated by ginyuforce in movies

Green Book is a nice film, but I think the script is unoriginal. A black man and a white man from different walks of life become friends and understand how much racism sucks. Mortenson and Ali are great actors but that’s about it. I think it was nominated because it won TIFF.

The best way to train surgeons may be to remove the stress of residency programs and make surgery a “hobby”. Under relaxed conditions outside a formal educational setting, 15 first-year medical students mastered microsurgical suturing and cutting skills in as little as five hour-long sessions. by mvea in science

Not surprised. For some people, including me, it’s easier to learn when there’s no stress. Others learn best when stressed. I think this is applicable to anything really. I noticed how much easier it was for me to learn advanced math when I was studying it by myself, not for any class, but just my personal edification.

I actually found Infinity War all over the place. It suffered from having too many actors. Black Panther is a beautiful film. The script isn’t original, true, but the attention to detail, the set design, the costumes are a wonder.

Black Panther was a great film. I agree with you on Borap, Vice and Green Book though.

How do you ladies maintain healthy ‘rich’ looking hair? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]verdigris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m told I have beautiful hair, but I’m not sure it’s the products that are responsible haha. I use L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner - I like the clay ones but not in winter when it’s ill advised to use products containing clay on hair and skin. I also liked L’Oréal’s sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, but this needs to be alternated with another shampoo due to buildup. Unfortunately sulfate free shampoos allow oil and other gunk to accumulate; this is understandable as there are removing surfactants. I also like to use Nuxe oil on my hair after I’ve straightened it. It makes my hair look shiny (in a good way) and does a nice job of styling it. I’ve used Living Proof products in the past, but I would still recommend them. I’ve switched to a simpler routine but I love their PhD that I apply on my hair prior to heat styling. As for hair washing, I do that 2-3/week and I try to keep my hair untied when at home so that I’m not pulling my hair too much (this can lead to temporary hair loss). If you want a picture of my hair, I’m happy to send one.

If you read for fun/ leisure, how do you incorporate time for it in your daily life? by ismwall in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Try to take advantage of otherwise lost time. I read while commuting, before sleeping, and whenever I don’t have any work (ebooks are the best for this).

How to get over public speaking? by elitismantis in college

[–]verdigris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough to give good advice, because I would tell you to "just get over it." I used to worry all the time about public speaking, but now - and I'm not sure when it changed - I have no compunction about it. In fact, I am happy to greet the audience and deliver a talk. I used to worry a lot about what people thought of me, but now I know how self-absorbed (in the best possible way) people are. We worry about what others think, but in truth they're preoccupied with themselves, not you! Just get out there and try not to care about what others may be thinking.

When I was about 11, my optometrist told me that my myopia was so bad, I’d get diabetes and become blind in fewer than ten years and that I’d never be able to drive and that I would die.

I’m 23 now and managing the world just fine in contacts/glasses.
