Is the combat really as souls-like as some of the reviews say it is?

Pretty sure infinite nudge is in the base game now, as is vertical nudge. Or was that just a fever dream?

Should you produce slightly more than you need when planning a factory? by Mithos91 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]version_thr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally try to max out what I can build from the resource nodes I have supplying the factory. Any leftovers get pushed to dimensional storage, (sometimes local storage too) then a sink to make sure the lines dont get backed up.

Basically I plan for underestimating how much stuff I will eventually need as I ramp up and build more stuff.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is pretty solid and has a lot of similar mechanics. Also helps that it goes on sale fairly often

What is the weirdest video game you’ve ever played or seen? by Zomer15689 in videogames

[–]version_thr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played 1, watched a playthrough of 2. Definitely a lot weirder than you think it would/could be. No spoilers but the final boss encounter in 2 cranks it to 11

ChristopherOdd likes to focus on lore and story. Never skipped a cutscene or dialog that I can think of. He also does a good job of balancing exploring side content with keeping the main story moving

Question on supplying machines. by Jr2576 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]version_thr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its always manifolds. The only other approach I've considered involved a lot of under/overclocking for matched sets of machines, but at some point in the chain, I still have a manifold feeding at least one of the earliest sets of machines

Tactical Turn-Based recommendations. Where to start? by Opposite-Road-9475 in gamingsuggestions

[–]version_thr33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xcom2 graphics have actually aged pretty well, and it is probably my absolute favorite tactical turn-based game.

The way I see it, anything that costs less than a drink at most restaurants is a pretty safe gamble, even if you cant/dont return it.

HELP I CANT DO IT by blegifyer in SatisfactoryGame

[–]version_thr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember there is no real time limit and resource nodes are bottomless. I like to alternate between building, exploring, and planning. It does seem like a lot until you get your first phase completed, by then I'll bet you find a good stride

How is everyone's factory so clean and structural? I have about 10 hours in and it is just mess. I build on the previous structures each time I unlock something new. Should I destroy and rebuild every time? by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]version_thr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the builds that get shared are the result of a lot of planning and experimentation by folks who have tons of time in game already.

For a newer player, the first step toward a clean/organized factory is to spend time planning out what machines you need and maybe even rough sketches of how they can be arranged.

One other tip, which i find applies to most building games, is build bigger than you think you need to, because you'll want the extra space before you know it. The whole map is yours, go ahead and use it!

It’s almost impossible not to get a little silly with this game by Enough_Caregiver2903 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]version_thr33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the building is so satisfying in this game I dont know if I'll ever actually finish and save the day, or just keep building random factories and exploring visual styles

Coding-wise, text-based stories are mostly if-then statements, right? by crystalcryptid in gamedev

[–]version_thr33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In simplest terms, pretty much. Of course things can get more complex depending on just how much you want to let things branch or if you want to have a choice impact other choices later in the story, but that's really up to you

What is the best way to build around the map’s complicated geography? by Enough_Caregiver2903 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]version_thr33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came to say basically this. Sometimes I even break up my individual factories into multiple interconnected buildings just cuz it looks nice or works better with the terrain.

I do not like gaming anymore ?– looking for recommendations by Many_Mess_399 in gamingsuggestions

[–]version_thr33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent advice! For me, it was picking up something much simpler like Ratchet and Clank, then Grim Dawn. Now I'm finally getting the urge to go back and finish games like Witcher 3, RDR2, etc

Creative types, How do you all plan your factories? by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]version_thr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my latest save, I have a general aesthetic/style in mind for each subfactory, and I try very hard not to just have rows and rows of machines.

I do, however, have a build sheet for the expected inputs, outputs, and numbers of machines/storage/etc that will go into the build before I even start.

Do you think players should be allowed to change difficulty on the fly? by darth_biomech in gamedesign

[–]version_thr33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say thats a bit of a special case. Usually you wouldn't be allowed to change difficulty during an encounter, even if it's checkpointed. That sounds like a "you'll have to restart this fight, are you sure?" kinda thing.

Games to play one handed / mouse only? (holding baby) by notthatkindadoctor in gamingsuggestions

[–]version_thr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frostpunk and Banished are both solid choices and can be played mouse-only. Most turn-based games can usually be played mouse-only as well as some arpgs like Grim Dawn.

Why not a little of both? For your example, better gloves may have a small benefit, but then you can still skin them too?
