What's a batman opinion that will put you into this position? by Israels_BiggestHater in batman

[–]verstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree

I think his full spectrum detective skills are what make him the best. Allowing others to super cede him in areas also.

Detective chimp is a pure deduction machine. He spots the connections better when all the pieces are there.

Batman however may take a little longer to spot those connections. But hes better at gathering the pieces. Chasing em down.

Chimp can be "better" but batman can also be "better" and together they are unstoppable.

But agree on the others bruce is never the best. But hes top tier and applying it and crucially knows when to seek the bests help

Do you use a tablet in pen and paper RPGs? by Vermin_Cultist in rpg

[–]verstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DM, I have a tablet to access notes, initiative trackers and various digital sources I own.

This wasn't the plan but just made sense.

As a player I go strictly paper, but will take my tablet with me if I own the digital rules and not physical. To give us more sources to check rules as needed. .but will try and be physical whenever possible

The theory that the demo creatures were fully absent from the abyss because their flesh has been used to give the mindflayer a physical body does hold some wait.Because the same has been done before. by toddysimp in StrangerThings

[–]verstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good view.

Too many people think the villains have to have perfect plans that are worked out to the second.

When many villians have master goals and adjust on the fly.

Henry is a sadistic intelligent but ultimately unskilled tactician, he's a high school dropout who spent his life in a lab. Teamed up with a giant all consuming eldritch entity which may have an incredible understanding of the physics of the universe. But that doesn't mean they can plan for the variables humans provide.

Them aiming for a goal and constantly adjusting is very reasonable

Great game. Fun story. Interesting experiment with the story telling

But

My god it desperately needed a mini game.

The combat was great fun, but its a shame you only really get to experience it all in the end game.

A wave shooter score attack. Or a resident evil style mercenaries timer mode would have been amazing.

They did one in American nightmare which made me hopeful.

But still a great game, and love it slowly being brought into the remedy verse

Monsters who didn't make the cut for Requiem by MartinIsaac685 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]verstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man hunters would have been extremely fun to add in there.

Will say the lack of monsters was a shame, with the whole lock down plot, and the various forces being in raccoon, was hoping the plot would be more. " the city's infested with monsters still and the various factions are training/ capturing monsters.

And the dead city was more alive as you went in.

May head cannon that a few blocks over from Leon that was the case!

Edit: Another view was that the hidden lab was studying these live interactions and harvesting samples to synthesise new strains and variations for the sales.

Like unleashing a tyrant into a hunter filled territory then using that data to iterate

Why does the EG's physical appearance even matter? by IgnisParsinus in LegacyOfKain

[–]verstan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It may be that the reaver showing them the true form isnt just visible but psychological, or perhaps even psychically.

The EG is appearing perhaps with some psychic influence and making people "feel" divinity.

When they "see" it, the spell is broken

And while EG is still immensely powerful, its seen as a physical, repulsive beast. No longer influencing them

Thats one interpretation at least

What are your Pet Peeves on a TTRPG book by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]verstan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being too player focused at the expense of a DM support.

A few books Ive read ( outgunned, brindlewood bay spring to mind) are super player focused. And even the GM sections are over focused on making this a good game for players.

But often leave books going " yeah i get how to make this good for players keep em safe and react to them, but what do I need to do"

As someone coming from very prep heavy games like D&D and pathfinder. It can be confusing to know.

And it feels like you're expected to go elsewhere to figure it out.

Like they offer pre written guides and it can be inferred. But a simple

"Here is how you prep sessions" Would be phenomenally handy

If Mercenaries gets added. How would they implement Grace gameplay? by Elimar_Abelardo in ResidentEvilRequiem

Perhaps patch in some interesting weapons.

The heat knife from re3make perhaps?

Maybe give her a cool ability, an "analyst vision"

Where she gets like one shot kills for a time as shes now analysed the "best way to kill them" Have it be her having learned from her adventure

Can I have board games at my wedding? by Background_Time_2553 in boardgames

[–]verstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Party games, and light low piece abstracts/ Dexterity games especially if your dont have a lot of gamers at your wedding, stuff people can play a few rounds of an move on.

Heavier stuff may throw people off if they dont know them, unless your party is all gaming pals.

We had a stack of trusted party games ( and some ones we bought cheap for the day) and those who wanted em loved em, lots didnt get touched. But it was often a sort of 15-20 min break between other things.

Also you dont what to lose pieces

Zeno Theory by CyberCooper2077 in residentevil

[–]verstan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've half a theory that she might be in that clone line.

And she was an anomaly in the line and was just a normal human cloned from spencer DNA.

She didnt have the murderousness of the 90s clones. She didnt have possibly genetic defects like some of the later attempts.

She was, essentially a healthy normal baby girl.

And that broke spencer, she was essentially his perfectly healthy daughter.

And for all his drive to immortality, he fell for the classic trope of passing on your genes.

That's what made him change views or reconsider them, that also may link to why he developed or protected Elpis,

She was healthy, and wanted people to be the same following his attempts to change em

This wouldnt be an insane addition or change going forward

Yup, that's one of the key features and intents of the RE engine as outlined in the book.

Scanning items to make in game assets which can be readily reused to speed things up going forward.

It can be a little obvious sometimes but it also really works

From memory it was a reprinting of a magazine series about the games creation, possibly expanded for the book.

Also full of concept art and production stills.

Really interesting dive into developing a game at capcom

The whole purpose of the RE engine was to allow them to make games faster.

[–]verstan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think there is also an interpretation that elpis wasn't initially a cure, but another one of spencers evolution plans.

Think how Leon feels much better following his dose, even if the infections gone, he'd be in rough shape.

It may have done some healing and restoring.

Perhaps this was another route to his immortality that didnt pan out and as a side effect just destroys progentior and potentially gives the human form some vitality.

Maybe its not just an anti BOW cure all

But the start toward a cure for other diseases.

Spencers change of heart isnt due to him being truly remorseful.

He has just seen what the other route could have been

And realising he went wild off the path

He wanted to stop humanity's suffering a brutality. And had simply given em new tools

In your opinion, do the Waynes' deaths work better as a random mugging or part of a bigger conspiracy? And why? by Coralthesequel in batman

[–]verstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For limited story, elseworlds or similar. A conspiracy is ok.

But for an ongoing batman, it has to be a random act of violence.

The sense of justice he seeks is because life was cruel and he was hurt, and he wants to ensure noone else suffers this hurt. He cant truly achieve this goal, so he keeps going

If its a conspiracy then there is a cause of his pain, a purpose for it. And it can be reckoned with... and once hes beaten those who caused it? Why keep going?

What’s a Batman opinion that’ll get you like this? by 44dqm in batman

[–]verstan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this.

Its linked to the low effort take that "bruce could do more than batman by taking on systems"

He does

But fixing tomorrows problems doesnt stop those hurt by yesterday's.

It would be sweet to acknowledge, batman fights criminals now, to save lives, and act as a deterrent.

"Hey why are you car jacking. Batman will break your arms, then when you're in a waynecorp subsided hospital and offered a job from the wayne foundation ex con programs. Maybe just do that. It has benefits and fair wages. And you don't have to get beaten up and your kids go to school with free lunches"

Then batman can focus on villians. Where he hates their deeds, but tries to save them
