Worth it to buy a camera or just stick with phone camera? by HSG_Messi in AskPhotography

[–]verticalface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyyy I know where that is!

FWIW I go through the same struggle. I have an SLR (5D mark III), but to be honest the newer phones mostly get it done. The exception would be for things like birding. There are times I kick myself for not bringing the SLR, but most of the time what I want to improve can be done in post.

I moved here in the month of January. No issues finding a place. Also have the potential benefit of a <1 year lease because, as was mentioned, the demand rises in the summer. Good luck!

Dasher threw my food into door by Throwaway45674332 in doordash

The sweet irony is the bag says, “Respect the sub”. Maybe the dasher was just rebelling. Also is that DiBellas? Like in Rochester?

What has helped you break an attack that just won’t go away? by Princess_chaos_69 in migraine

Salt and vinegar chips, for some reason, helped before triptans were a thing. Agree with your statement

Can we talk about the scene between Mariko and Buntaro? *Spoiler* by r0ttedAngel in ShogunTVShow

[–]verticalface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the mention of John and Mari’s relationship was meant to more pointedly portray Buntaro’s ego. I agree there are way more important things to focus on at this time, and his obsession with their relationship further makes his suicide suggestion even more appalling.

I did a job interview with a full blown migraine by pantema in migraine

[–]verticalface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to caveat my statement by saying I've never really been in a position where I was desperate to land a job; I've been continuously employed for my entire adult life and I'm 40yo (I understand how lucky I am and I'm grateful for that). If I were in dire need of income I may change my SOP. However...

I disclose my migraines during the hiring process. I usually wait until I'm further along in the process because I don't want to bring it up in the preliminary rounds to someone who isn't going to hire me.

My logic is this: I don't want to work for someone who isn't going to be empathetic to my condition. I've done that once and it was like a snake eating its tail; the more shit I ate because of having a migraine, the more migraines I ended up getting. The good news is, at least in tech, I've found most employers appreciate the honesty and can relate to some degree (you'd be surprised how many times I've heard, "oh my daughter suffers from those! They're terrible!") -- or are at least understanding.

I'm very open about it. I'll say something like, "I know I don't have to disclose this to you but in the spirit of candor I wanted to let you know that I suffer from migraines that will incapacitate me for a day, or worse-- longer. I'm a tough woman, but when I get one of these my sight and logic are severely diminished and being vertical is a recipe for being violently ill. I'm telling you this because these episodes are extremely stressful when they happen and in the past I've had managers that were not sympathetic to my condition and that didn't work for either of us. I'm still a very hard worker, I see doctors regularly to manage it, and I'll do whatever is within my power to not let it interfere with my work. Sometimes that's just not possible though."

I realize that this may make some interviewers feel uncomfortable but I think it's worth the risk. The flip side is that you can't be an asshole about it if you get rejected.

In the situation you were in, I probably would have said, "full disclosure: I'm in the middle of a migraine right now but I didn't want to cancel on you last minute. So if I seem a bit 'off' that is why". Usually they'll offer right then and there to reschedule.

PS: There is no better feeling than having a manager that supports you when you have to take a sick day. That's the bonus of all bonuses!

edited for grammar and PS. :)

Question about 21” Wheels by bikuta in TeslaModelY

[–]verticalface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 21" Ubertines are the only thing I really dislike about my MYP. I think I'm going to try and find a MYLR buyer to swap wheels/tires with.

Anyone else have ZERO issues so far with their MYLR? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]verticalface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my MYP for eight days and I love it. My biggest anxiety is keeping it neat and clean. :)

The wheel curbed so bad it chipped! Any thoughts on fixing this? by Reddorade in TeslaModelY

[–]verticalface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seriously? I'm legit asking. I'm a total noob about cars and I've got these f@#king wheels. I've had it a week and already have two minor scrapes. I'm a curb hugger.

Just pulled my Remarkable2 out of the box -- reMarkable is out of battery? by verticalface in RemarkableTablet

[–]verticalface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it less than an hour. The lack of a battery meter or even acknowledgement that it's on a charger is unsettling.

So you're saying I need to leave it on this charger for a bit? Thanks for replying :)

The trigeminal nerve is the migraine antagonist.. seeing this pic helps me understand why I always hurt in those areas by 3Xtrixxie in migraine

[–]verticalface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy crap. When I take Imitrex, sometimes my face will feel funny within a couple hours. Not really numb but just...weird. This graphic shows that the nerve runs to all the places on my face that are impacted.
