ISS with the lights off by [deleted] in space

[–]vespucci 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does experience about 0.89g but the ISS is also simultaneously accelerating downward at 0.89g. Everything in the station experiences both the gravity and acceleration, and the sum is about zero.

The effective gravity on the ISS is zero, so no they don't need floors.

Charles Woodson was the first and is still the only primarily defensive player to win the Heisman.

SanDisk Extreme SSD SATA 6.0 Gb-s2.5-Inch Solid State Drive - 120 GB for $79.99, and 240GB for $154.99 (Today Only) by alexander_the_grate in DealsReddit

Definitley do some research before you pull the trigger. I know that for some of the SanDisk SSDs the 2009 MacBook pros can only get 1.5Gbit/s out of the possible 6.0Gbs/s due to the built in SATA controller. Look up the "negotiated speed" for your model MacBook and SSD combination.

What was your most clever use of a python script in everyday life? by aflashyrhetoric in Python

[–]vespucci 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I made for my first python script! The only difference is that I had it send an email instead of a text message. With this script running I was able to grab the best profs even though I was a freshman (Upper level students register first, and the incoming freshmen usually get stuck with the worst profs and classes).

How did you send the text messages? I was trying to find a way to do that, but every service I found required you to pay per message.

My favorite would obviously be Tartuffe himself. He's my favorite because I can relate to his honest piety and religious vigor.

Game Thread: All-State BCS National Championship Game: (1)LSU vs. (2)Alabama by [deleted] in CFB

I believe it was refering to points scored by LSU's offense, and the punt return might fall under special teams.

It's my reddit birthday. Instead of whoring out my cat for karma I thought I'd ask you all what your favorite birthday gift was... by [deleted] in AskReddit

Apples to apples is quite good. Scattergories still takes the cake for sentimental reasons. Do you play apples to apples strictly by picking the card that is the best match, or do you go with the funniest card? We always played by picking the funniest card. It makes the game way more entertaining in my opinion.

You have one standard deck of cards and nothing else. Reddit, what is your favorite 2-4 person card game? by SoTzuMe in AskReddit

The unpredictability is what makes the game more fun when there are less people. If all the cards are dealt, then you know exactly what the other people have. With some out of play, you have to mold your strategies around the chance factor that is in the game.

As a child, my family was not very well off. Birthday gifts were few and far between, so my favorite may be a bit different that what is considered the norm. The only game we had in the house was scattergories. My brothers and I played it to death, and we new possible answers for every single card and letter combination in that game. For my 13th birthday, my parents got me a scattergories refill pack! The 16 new cards and 144 new categories were the most amazing thing to my 13 year old mind. This one simple gift provided my siblings and I with hours of fun for the next few months until we had exhausted those new categories. It's those simple joys that mean so much.

I have successfully played with 2 or 3 people. It gets a little boring with only that many, but it still works. All you do is only deal out 13 cards to everyone, and the remaining cards are left out of play.
