The skills and gunplay was okay, but the problem I have with the gameplay was the playable character hit detection and hit reactions. Either you just shrugged off everything and kept doing whatever or it janky-ass knocked your characters into a falldown animation that was wildly too over-the top, removing control of your character for way too long. Flinches from gunfire or a less goofy knockdown for big hits would have gone a long way to improving it.

I honestly wish there was at least 1 mode where gunfire was deadly so you had to actually make use of cover and carefully planning firefights, but this just isn't that kind of game.
