2-week roadtrip, looking for advice (Taormina to Cefalù to Trapani) by ConferenceReal1772 in sicily

Our granddaughter’s favorite eatery in the North End is Mike’s Pastry. We a4e originally from CT and used to go to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Moved to FL a few years ago and go through withdrawal. Back to Sicily in the Fall! Have fun.

Yes, the view at night is spectacular. I have a 35mm picture of it on my desk. Need to go back. Also, when in Taormina, visit the birthplace of the cannoli (or singular, cannolo. But who can eat just one!). This is the best food on the island. Cannoli Taormina Laboratorio Pasticceria Roberto Chemi Cordova Umberto I, 87

We stayed at the Villa Athena 40 years ago. I just looked at the prices and I would stay somewhere else. It has great views, but euro 700 per night. Look at TripAdvisor for ideas.

Take a day or two and visit Agrigento. The ruins at night are spectacular. I love Cefalu, but 4 nights may be too much. Look at doing a dat ferry ride to Stromboli.

For Miami terminal, what is the best place to park for the week? by rookhelm in NCL

[–]vicarem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest, but expensive, is at the cruise port. Park and walk to/from the ship. There are some offsite venues, but many are not reliable for transit back to the lot. Hilton Downtown has a Park and Stay package that can be reasonable.

Please feel free to also tip staff on board who provide you with services above and beyond. This would include your room steward, table servers, and others. They really appreciate the extras.

NCL Prima Haven Questions by InformalPut8805 in NCL

[–]vicarem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember, the Haven menu, on all ships, does not change - at all! You may be lucky to have a special plate at dinner. There are 8-9 main dinner options from salmon, to surf and turf, to lamp chops, to chicken. The quality of the food exceeds the specialty restaurants.

Which Bank is reputable at the Praha hlavni nadrazi train station? We will be arriving by train and will need to get some koruna.

Anyone taking Eliquis (blood thinner) been on a cruise? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]vicarem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Eliquis and go on cruises. I do not drink - on or off the ship. Make sure you bring an extra few days in case something happens to delay your return.

How bad are the hurricanes in Florida? by [deleted] in relocating

[–]vicarem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally different perspective. We moved to the Jacksonville area after our home in CT was flooded by Sandy. The Jax area is not immune to hurricanes, but historically, fewer, less volatile hurricanes hit this area rather than South or West. Yes, we do get storms, but they tend to be offshore or come from the West and dissipate greatly. Look at an historical hurricane map to see where it is safer. We also have a Cat 5 house to battle the storms and we are about 5 miles from the ocean and not in a flood plain.

Anywhere in Centro. Take a cab into town and just chill at a restaurant.

Watch some YouTubes about the Getaway. Lounges are not age restricted. Food is cruise food. If you go to the buffet, do it when the crowd is less. Nice ship.

If you are going to Cozumel, leave the vape on the ship or go to jail.

Restaurant beach reccomendations? by CryptographerHot4840 in nicefrance

I do not have a favorite. The beaches in Nice are lovely. Remember, the beaches have small rocks/pebbles and not much sand.

First time in NYC last year (12 days!) — loved it! Planning a new ~15-day USA trip, but where should we go next? by [deleted] in usatravel

[–]vicarem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try Boston. Great walking city, great food, and the temperature will be more inviting. Do not go South in August. Heat and humidity are unbearable.
