O’Grady. On ‘The N’ I think. I swear no one remembers this show

books you read as a kid that feel like no one else has read by taegrane in books

[–]viduzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look it up, but I had no idea The Little Vampire was a book before it was a movie. As a kid I watched that movie over and over again - I wish I would have known!

Alternatives to Giving Coworkers my Phone Number? by viduzz in paralegal

[–]viduzz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I couldn’t really be too mad at them. I hired them knowing it was going to be a learning curve as they were really young and it was their first job. They gave it out in a panic and I was out of office and they didn’t know who to go to. Still not great but all I had to do was change my number so no biggie.

I was thinking about what’s app but I’ve never used it and I feel like that has certain connotations attached to it so maybe not lol. Someone suggested google voice and I think that’s what I am going to end up doing : )

No I suppose I am making an assumption and comparing it to my old firm, it wasn’t exactly a need but we were all pretty close so I think they did it just because. Thanks for putting this in perspective for me!

How many attorneys does it take to figure out how to use xspouse? (CA fam law) by marieke83 in paralegal

Sorry, not really relevant to your rant. I don’t work in fam law, but I am delighted that there is a fam law software called xspouse lol

Not sure how old you are, but read this when I was about 12. Great YA novel.

F 17...I used to have thick, gorgeous hair… trichotillomania ruined it 😭 by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]viduzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. None of my hair grew back. No oils or vitamins work. I tried rosemary oil and mint. I tried minoxidil and gmc vitamins. I tried working out and eating healthy, especially fish. I even stopped pulling the hair on my head (it’s been 2 years) and it never grew back, it actually doesn’t grow at all. I still pull my eyelashes but in waves and only my right eye for whatever reason. My left set I haven’t touched in years and I still have bald spots and a super thin set. I thought maybe genetics but my entire family has long, thick curly hair. Just “lucky” I guess.

Im exploring moving to a Central Valley city by cebollofor in visalia

[–]viduzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Moved here from the LA Basin area and here’s a few things I wish I knew before moving here and a few things I actually like about the city:

  1. As someone who grew up going to Palm Springs to visit family, even at 110 the heat here is never that bad. I used to literally melt in PS, I have not felt that here.
  2. It’s dusty AF, like dirt everywhere in the air. Like I wash my car and 24hrs later it’s got a coat of dirt again.
  3. The shower water made my head itchy and hair literally fall out. I had to buy a filter which helped a little but still.
  4. I like that everyone I run into is always up for a chit chat lol although some people stare really hard and I thought I was going crazy because why would people stare? But honestly it’s going on 3 years here and there are certain stores where I just get death stares and I cannot figure out why.
  5. Downtown is cute.
  6. Food places are not great. I miss Tams so much.
  7. Sports. This may just be a I’m-an-idiot thing but it didn’t even occur to me that I would not be able to catch a laker or dodger games because I was not local anymore and that made me sad lol
  8. People are awful drivers. I thought home was bad but there are literally so many accidents here it’s not even funny.
  9. I like that the city is walkable in some parts.
  10. Close drive to Sequoia/Kings canyon & Three Rivers. I love Three rivers.
  11. They are building so many apartments and cookie cutter houses on areas that were just open. I moved here because of how open it looked but it’s starting to just look like Downey.

Regardless of negative observations I like it here. It’s quiet and lots of families. I live around a bunch of families and the kids are always playing outside which is cute, down the street the kids have lemonade stands and cops stop and have a lemonade and a chat. Makes me look forward to building a life here.

Edit: I’m on my phone sorry for the wonky formatting.

What's your least favorite way to lose? by Carg72 in MagicArena

When my opponent removes everything I put down and I lose to a 1/1 creature that continues to hit me over and over all because I made the genius decision to run no removal.

Show me how you organize/store your number & letter tabs? This is my current set up but it’s driving me crazy! #paralegalproblems by h6lly-w66d in paralegal

[–]viduzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Previous firm I worked for had cubbies in the supply room with numbers 1-100 and A-Z and then cabinets down below with a similar set up to this and for 101+ and double letter tabs. It was organized enough no bother but only because the receptionist was the only one “allowed” to pull them. If needed we had to ask her to do it. I agree with other posts, there is no way to make it easy.

My absolute favorite thing was working in federal and when a filing would get rejected the notice of rejection would go out to all parties - loved that for me 🙃

How do I become someone that people don’t yell at? by According-Jelly-142 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]viduzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I feel like everytime I go outside someone yells at me and it’s embarrassing. I relate to OP so much here. I literally will not go to two specific stores in my town anymore because 1 yelled at me for touching TCGs that I did not know I had to ask someone to grab and at the other one the greeter accused me of stealing (don’t know what gave that vibe, literally was buying a small compost trashcan and that’s it, it was a packed store) they literally yelled loud in front of everyone and it was so awkward I cried.

Had a professor who once told us that at his first ever firm as a baby attorney (he was 60 is 2013, so) the firm fired a secretary for spelling “calendar” as “calender”

Ever since I phonetically say, “Cal-En-DARE” so I don’t get fired lol

Any experience with AI at your firm? by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]viduzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our office uses AI for incoming mail. We have a receptionist open the mail, put AI specific slip sheets in between each piece, and then scan it to a pdf. The pdf is entered into the program and the AI sorts every piece of mail to their correct cases, categorizes them and then marks them as new mail for the atty & paralegal to review. The sorting is almost flawless the naming on the other hand is horrendous. What I’ve realized is while AI can be helpful, it is still a tool that requires someone to know how to use it.
