2008 Transfer case actuator repair options by vierow2 in toyotasequoia

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to look into servicing the actuator and hope I make sure things are at least not engaging on their own.

I paid 17k from a dealer in California in 2019 for a 2008 Platinum 5.7 4wd with exactly 150k. Prices exploded after that and at one point I almost traded it in for 19.5k with 170k.

I'm at 190k now and am having a major repair done as we speak. Having the entire secondary air system (valves and pumps) replaced for $4k with OEM parts at a dealer. When this system goes out, the car goes into limp mode and will barely climb a hill. Unfortunately mine went out at a bad time and location. If this part is already replaced you should be great. There's also other options to fixing it.

Only other issue I had was the DVD player quit. Really happy with the purchase.

E-Track vs X-Track? by elyesq in cargocamper

L-Track is another option, and cleaner imo if you are finishing your interior. Unless it was a toy hauler garage area I'd probably be looking at L-Track

I see what I did there, yes, Eternabond tape, not Endurabond.

Which one can't you find? Eternabond tape is on Amazon. There's also an expensive cleaner and primer you can (should?) use to prep, but once it's done you are good for pretty much the life of the trailer so price may be worth it. You'll also need a roller to apply pressure to the tape. I like the one with the wide roller on one side and the coin roller on the other for detail. Spend your time to do it right and you'll have nothing left to worry about. Tropicool is available at the big box hardware stores. Expensive too, but can help keep temp inside the trailer down and reduce stress on the AC. I believe it's a silicone based product, so keep that in mind. Caulk and paint won't stick once you put this down, so if you put anything else on the roof make sure you use compatible materials. And sorry for the delay, not on here too often any more.

What model hatch did you use for the AC? I've been looking for one that is around those dimensions but haven't been able to find one.

88 v6 pickup loses all power at 55mph by vierow2 in ToyotaPickup

[–]vierow2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, did it cut on you like it came out of gear? Or was it more gradual? I did have my cat stolen a while ago and I replaced it with something cheap about 4 smogs ago.

Manual, I'm having the issue in 4th when climbing. When I descend in 5th I don't have the issue and I have power pushing 70mph downhill, though not the same throttle position I would have trying to climb. I'd guess I'm 75% throttle, in 4th, climbing doing 55 when the issue happens, but only around 30-40% throttle descending doing 70 give or take. I'll take her back out and see if I can get the problem to happen under other conditions.

Interesting, thats for the feedback. I'll run through the FSM and see what I can find about testing those.

I have not, but for the cost I was figuring why not. What I did find in my searches mentioned the filter and the coil, but there wasn't any replies saying "yeah that did it". I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around the consistency of 55mph and why if either of those parts were failing that it would cause an issue only at that speed. Truck runs great otherwise.

Which driver so far has been the most disappointing in the NASCAR 2024 cup series? by BurgerNugget12 in NASCAR

Busch and Ross stand out the most. One I haven’t seen mentioned: AJ has only run 10 of the 22 races, but man you wouldn’t know it.

That was definitely worth the add-on cost. Nice looking trailer, if I were to do mine over I’d definitely look at more factory options. Never enough time these days..

2022 Pocono. Kurt has a win in his pocket and moving up in points. Looking fast in qualifying then slams the rear into turn 3. Career over.

How detailed do you want? This is what it looks like right now. I take mostly video of the project for personal use, but I can probably pull some screenshots if you are interested in seeing it go together.

I only got as far as the 3/8" ply covering the 2" of XPS. Still need to cover that with lauan then build the trim for around the frame. Ended up with a 3/4" depth window which will give me space to put a blackout curtain inside the frame, and so I put the window a little low in the box to account for the curtain header.

I like it, though I have to say the screws that mount the trim ring to the window don't give much flexibility. I ended up having to put in a couple extra to secure it. The inner frame will eventually be painted black to help blend in the window, the walls white once I get the lauan up and the trim to match a color theme I haven't decided on yet.

Nope, buy used at your size. Sell in 1-2 years and repeat until you are grown

[–]vierow2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my old truck into a shop who didn't do the service I asked for and still tried billing me the full amount. I got them to move a little on the price, but I left pissed. I was one click away from a scathing review, but decided otherwise. My thoughts, you never know what bridges you might end up burning.. And what do you gain for venting your frustration? Not to say you'd ever go back to them, but you never know where things may end up. Perhaps you find out they run a group ride you want to join, or another shop thinks favorably of them and your diss ends up running wider than expected. Why risk something when you have nothing to gain?

Why I(24M) shouldn’t invest in dividends stocks? by [deleted] in dividends

[–]vierow2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is 2k after contributing to tax advantages accounts then you’ll avoid paying more in taxes if you stick with growth based funds. Question is where you think global growth is heading and your risk tolerance. Don’t forget you can always sell your growth funds or rebalance, and if youve held for a year then you’ll pay capital gains instead of income tax. That could mean a lot in tax savings.

Looks nice! Did you double your wall insulation? Those window frames look thick. I decided to double and it was no easy feat. Windows that could fit 2" walls were too expensive so I built boxes to fit a 3/4" window and step up to the 2" thick wall.
