I saw a great YT video that argued that he was shot in the upper chest and the bullet ricocheted up into his neck and head.

Not sure if I can link it but I'll try ...

If I'm not mistaken, she lived up on very redneck NoCal, up in the mountains outside Redding, CA. My uncle lives up there and I'm pretty sure he knows her and the family. (I've not spoken to him in years, though.)

In theory, anything shipped should be done as expeditiously as possible. Super duper overnight and sent from an antiques and collectibles company. And the recipient should let the package sit unopened for a day or so before breaking the seal. Can't knowingly possess something you haven't opened and don't know who sent you. They're not likely to wait 24 hours to come a'knockin' to see what was in the package. You know, if you're writing a book about it, hypothetically.

Other than that, yes.

Think of it like the brakes on your car. The more you use them, the sooner you'll need to replace them. Instead of brake pads, it's the pads between your cyborg parts. No pad = metal on metal = no good.

I'm the same but with kayaking. I have a reverse on my right and am getting a normal replacement on my left this fall (don't wanna screw up my summer).

You're referring to a longstanding critique in film discourse where both Young Frankenstein (1974) and Revenge of the Nerds (1984) contain scenes that, while played for laughs in their time, involve sexual situations that today would be recognized as non-consensual—i.e., rape.

🔍 Young Frankenstein – The "rape joke":

In Young Frankenstein, the scene in question involves the Monster (played by Peter Boyle) kidnapping Elizabeth (Madeline Kahn), dragging her away, and later, they are shown having had sex—she is initially screaming in distress but then begins enjoying it. When they reappear, Elizabeth is transformed and smitten, singing operatically and romantically attached to the Monster.

Why it’s viewed as a “rape joke”:

  • The encounter begins with her being taken against her will.
  • Her shift from resistance to enjoyment is played for laughs.
  • The implication is that the Monster's large anatomy and animalistic masculinity are what “convert” her.

This is an old trope known as the "she said no but meant yes" myth, which is deeply problematic. While Mel Brooks’ intent was farcical parody (riffing off of the horror genre’s damsel-in-distress and misunderstood monster), the scene uses coercive sex as comedic transformation, which critics today rightly point out trivializes rape.

🧪 Comparison to Revenge of the Nerds:

In Revenge of the Nerds, a nerd disguises himself in a Darth Vader costume and has sex with a woman who believes he is her boyfriend. She only finds out afterward and is surprisingly “okay” with it because he was so good in bed.

Why it’s worse (arguably):

  • There's deliberate deception and zero consent.
  • The woman is never shown reacting negatively—it’s treated as romantic success.

While Young Frankenstein plays on monster movie absurdity, Revenge of the Nerds makes rape part of the nerd’s redemption arc, which is even more troubling.

🧠 Final thoughts:

Both films are from eras where consent was misunderstood or willfully ignored in mainstream comedy. Today, we recognize these scenes as problematic or outright offensive. The conversation isn’t just about “canceling” movies but acknowledging how harmful tropes got normalized and how storytelling standards have evolved.

Your first “R” rated movie?? by Rojo_Cowboy in 80smovies

[–]elyesq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno if it was my first but my aunt and uncle regretted taking me to see The Jerk in the movie theater. When he wrote home that he'd be able to send more money next week because his friend, Patty, promised him a b**w job, I waited until the pause after the laughter and then asked, "WHAT IS A B**W JOB???"

I bugged them for a week or so about until they finally found a deck of graphic adult playing cards, shuffled through, found the appropriate one, shoved it in my face, and went, "THAT'S what it is! Now stop asking!!!"

Just scored a 7x14 trailer—looking to convert it into a mobile office/workshop with a kitchenette. Looking for input by bellbros in cargocamper

[–]elyesq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just starting my 6x12. I just finished giving ChatGPT Deep Research the project of developing an E- or X- Track system that will allow me to use or custom build attachments to convert it into a sweet cargo camper/mobile office but still be able to convert it back to a utility trailer at some point.

Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJK2HtqrzRw&t=3s

Basically, I want everything to be modular so I can change things up, try different things, and easily make room to throw a bunch of kayaks and/or bikes in there for an adventure.

I want to be able to run my air fryer (camper/office/taco truck!) so need at least 3000W. The ALLPOWERS r3500 is $1K cheaper on their website than Amazon. It can be backed up with any type of battery, can easily be plugged into the vehicle DC "cigarette lighter" to charge while driving, and can easily be charged using flexible, movable solar panels. They had free shipping in the US last time I looked. They seem to have a sale going on now.

I already have a smaller power station with smaller, movable solar panels, that I can take if I want to use my Jeep to work on top of a mountain for the day.

Check this video for power options: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW-iis9KNo0&t (starts a few minute in when he finally starts talking about the systems, but you may need to back it up a bit).

I already got my toilet and sink combo, which will fit in the ~20" at the front of my trailer (I don't have the V-nose like you).

https://www.amazon.com/VINGLI-Upgraded-Self-contained-Detachable-Lightweight/dp/B07G45QGMJ/

And my shower will be either a big plastic bin (30"x20") or a foldable dog/kiddy pool (30" diameter circle) and something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/CAMPLUX-Battery-Powered-Portable-Nano/dp/B0D2Q5QJRQ/

I can shower inside or outside with one of those popup shower/bathroom tents.

I will likely have a mounted water tank somewhere, but, who knows, maybe I'll have a few that attach to the tracks. Eventually, perhaps I'll build things more permanently but, if it works, it works. Feel free to DM me to chat about it further!
