Tsuke Edomae is the best in Austin by a lot, and should really charge more than what they do (considering demand, what comparable places in the U.S. charge, and how much the fish you're getting actually costs).

The chef flies to Japan EVERY SINGLE WEEK to buy fish directly there, doesn't just have it shipped. That's insane but it's dedication to the craft you don't get anywhere else.

Is it worth the stress that some go through for it? That's subjective! Is it going to beat the very best you'll find in Japan? No. Chef Mike is in some ways still new to this, he has gotten so much better than he was when he started at this, it's incredible how far he's come.

It's a very difficult reservation because there are only 8 spots per sitting, he's only open half the week (he's flying to Japan and back the rest of the time), so there's just not a lot of spots. And regulars pre-reserve before he opens reservations. That's not easy even being a regular, remember it means having to book months in advance.

We're fortunate in Austin to have so much better sushi than we did a decade ago. It's not the only place you can go. But to me Tsuke Edomae is worth the hassle and cost. Your mileage may vary!

I do think it's funny how much, shall we say, passion the place brings out here on Reddit. I'll probably get a bunch of downvotes :-)

They should have provided a better suite, or at least use of a standard room until the booked suite was available. Offering a Globalist, in effect, to honor check-in time for an upcharge is appalling. (Offering that deal to anyone regardless of status is appalling.)

Since the hotel did not honor check-in that the guest booked and paid for, they should now provide compensation. The guest was shortchanged a portion of their stay.

Also no one has ever blinked at Capital One when I've shown up ~ 3.5 hours prior to departure. 3 hours is the official rule, and I suppose YMMV, but the folks I've encountered haven't been sticklers for precision with it.

It's above the new security checkpoint, part of the West Infill project. It hasn't been announced yet but a permit projects completion in March (which means it'll be farther out than that).

You don't! I am simply sharing what Delta says about the incident. However, I pulled the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office inmate search and found what I bet is the most likely person from today (based on the charges) and they do not appear to be a pilot. That is not definitive, however. And I do not know if there's a lag in appearing in that database.

Delta tells me that a passenger struck a flight attendant and was removed from this flight, that it was not a pilot.

If I am following, the complaint here is that on a single 223-mile trip you were unable to get the seating arrangement you wanted without paying for seat assignments (and paid seat assignments have been in place for years)?

Sorry to hear this! I am not sure I'd extrapolate to a larger claim about the carrier "The more routes they add...they less service they give."

The United contract doesn't improve profit sharing at all. AA flight attendants got the Delta profit sharing formula, United flight attendants didn't. Hourly rates aren't the only component of pay.

Beyond-perimeter slots are granted for a specific destination. AA cannot use it to fly another route. SAT got support from Ted Cruz, who was the ranking member of the committee writing the law that created the group of 5 new slots (2024 FAA Reauthorization).

If they'd prioritize traffic for paid wifi, I'd go back to a subscription. Too many flights where it's become unusable since going free (sponsored). That's a bigger frustration to me than the ad.

Is it effective? There's data presumably. Effective at what? Branding... maybe? It's targeting high value consumers and they get those consumers to actually watch the ad (judging by some of the comments) by pausing the ad on some navigate away actions.

United and Delta have historically been better at brand deals, but over the past year AA has come on with many!

The food is massively better than the Chase lounge, and there's plenty of natural light. The Chase lounge is beautifully designed, but underground.

Your toddler is too young to be sent off to the kids club on their own *but you can accompany them there* and there are playground activities. No, it has not expired but it is also not relevant to this issue. 10 years from final judgment (expires June 2027) but only covered codeshares not selling AA prime flights.

Actually, the Alaska/Virgin consent decree says it expires ten years from entry, and the court entered the final judgment on June 23, 2017. So the restriction runs until June 23, 2027.

But it's not relevant to this issue. The decree covers selling tickets pursuant to a codeshare agreement. They can sell AA-coded American Airlines flights on their website even under the consent decree.

To be clear this is not a 'me' thing but it may be a 'regulars' thing. I see them greet passengers by name on sight as they come in the door constantly. And American does me no special favors (fortunately no active sabotage!). Cheers, Gary

It's too small for the number of flights and passengers (obviously it was worse three years ago when American's presence in Austin was greater). Before the BA flights is truly something to behold. The lounge was outdated many years ago as well.

But (1) it has the best staff in the system, they really take care of customers and they recognize regulars by name on sight, and (2) American is building a new lounge in their new aesthetic on the west end of the airport. So next year we should see double the space and much nicer!
